PERW vs SYTW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Nov 11, 2023

This could very well be a Finals matchup considering the way these two teams are playing. The Scorchers are second on the table, while the Thunder are currently first after essentially winning four games in a row (although they had one No Result after the game was cancelled due to bad weather).

Perth Scorchers Women vs. Sydney Thunder Women will take place at Junction Oval, Melbourne on November 12th. For all the best tips and news regarding cricket matches, check the offical OCB website.

PERW vs SYTW Team Previews

Perth Scorchers Women

The Scorchers have had a few surprise losses, but they’re hanging around the top of the table with a convincing recent win over the Heat by 39 runs. We are also not surprised to see them demolish the hapless Renegades in the match before the Thunder.

With their comfortable win against the Heat, mostly because of Devine's magnificent 106 runs, the Scorchers are dangerous once more. Having a solid average of 59.28, Devine has been incredibly constant and is a powerful batter with urgency, as proven with 415 runs. Mooney (317), Jones (148), and Darke (156) are all providing good batting support, while Sciver-Brunt (75) is looking strong in her first two games. There's a lot of quality batting here that the Thunder bowlers will have to be wary of, especially Darlington.

Edgar (14/201) and King (12/204 with 6.27 ER) are the bowlers that most impress us. While Mills only has 5/164 (9.74 ER), she still has to do much better and can't let the runs pile up when she's bowling. Perth does get some decent bowling help from Ainsworth (10/178) and Devine (9/229), however, so there's no major concern with the Scorchers just yet.

Sydney Thunder Women

The Thunder are looking great and did have a nice recent victory over the Stars, but it was much closer than anyone expected. The Thunder only won by 4 runs and didn’t have a great first innings with the bat, scoring just 125 runs, with Knight having the best game with 45.

Usually reliable and skilled batters like Athapaththu (17 runs), Wilson (13), Litchfield (5), and Kapp (6), all had terrible performances and can certainly do better than this. We’re not too concerned, however, as Athapaththu has scored 321 total runs (45.85 average) and Wilson has been solid with 246.

There’s no doubt that the Thunder completely relied on their bowling to win the match against the Stars, most notably Darlington with an incredible 5 wickets for 10 runs. She saved the team, and has been great all season with 14/156 in total. The Thunder could use someone else to help out, as Kapp (6 wickets) and Johnson (5 wickets) are doing fine, but it can’t be Darlington every time.

PERW vs SYTW Toss Prediction

Teams batting first have won 20/36 times, compared to 16 times when bowling first. Either team is a strong batting side, but the Thunder would probably benefit more when batting first.

Pitch and Conditions

It’s not uncommon to see high-scoring matches at the Junction Oval, due to a rather flat wicket and a rapid outfield. The Scorchers recorded the largest total here with 192 runs, although the average score is around 155.

PERW vs SYTW Betting Tips

This one is hard to decide, but we feel like the Thunder are a slightly better team at the moment, especially with Athapaththu and Darlington playing so well. The Scorchers have their fair share of talented players, so it’s going to be a close match, but the Thunder are on a roll and seem to have better momentum. The Parimatch odds are fairly even, but the Thunder can still give you a good return.

Wilson and Athapaththu have been one of the better opening pairs in the league with 119 runs. Both batters have been getting better and better, and while the Scorchers are a tough opponent, hopefully this brings out the best in both Wilson and Athapaththu.

Both Wilson and Athapaththu are great this season, but the odds are just a bit more exciting for choosing Wilson here. Wilson recently had a huge game of 83* and has totalled 246 runs, so it's clear that she can handle big games and score when it matters.

You'd like the odds to be a bit better, although it's a safe bet with so many talented batters in both squads. Wilson, Athapaththu, Litchfield, and Knight all have a 50 for the Thunder, while Sciver-Brunt, Devine, and Mooney each have a half-century. Devine, too, has been amazing with a recent century. We feel like all batters will be out to prove themselves here and aim for the boundaries many times.
