The second T20 international game between South African women and Pakistani women was played at the National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan yesterday. The Pakistani women recorded a solid 7-wicket win over South African women to seal the T20 international series. Batting first, South African women managed to score 150 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. The Pakistani women chased down this target easily once again to record a 7-wicket win. The Pakistan team reached the target with 7 wickets and 5 balls to spare.

The South African women were off to a good start in the second T20 international. Tazmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt provided a good beginning with 74 runs from 10.4 overs. But the later-order batswomen could not provide the necessary impetus to the innings as they never accelerated to achieve a big score. During their chase, Pakistani women saw Sidra Ameen hitting a career-best 61 while other batters such as Muneeba Ali and Aliya Riaz also played useful hands to achieve the target easily in the end.

Earlier during the South African innings, Nashra Sandhu and Sadiq Iqbal picked up a wicket apiece that helped Pakistani women in restricting South African women to a score of 150 runs. The only Pakistani bowler who was expensive and went for over 8 runs per over was Fatima Sana. Pakistan did lose an early wicket when Shawaal Zulfiqar was out for 4 runs from 12 balls. However, Ameen was in charge of the chase with a fifty in her first T20 international match half-century at home, and it was her 3rd fifty of her career.

South Africa Women

After the South African women's team's opening batters, Tazmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt added 74 runs from 10.4 overs, the visitors just lost 3 wickets during their innings. However, they just could not accelerate the scoring rate which would have hurt the Pakistani women. Nadine de Klerk did hit Fatima Sana for 3 fours in their last over but it was not sufficient for loosening the Pakistani grip on the match. Nonkululeko Mlaba managed to get an early wicket for South African women but Ameen had other ideas.

After a big partnership for Pakistani women, it was Mlaba who once again provided the much-needed breakthrough by removing Bismah Maroof. Delmi Tucker got rid of Ameen 9 balls later. Ameen struck 6 fours and 1 six during her stay at the crease. Pakistani women needed 49 runs from 34 balls at this juncture. It looked as if South African women were back into the match at this stage but Riaz and Muneeba Ali hit 54 from 29 balls to ensure that there were no more accidents during the Pakistani innings.

The pick of the bowlers for South African women was Nonkululeko Mlaba. She picked up 2 wickets for 20 runs from her 3 overs while bowling at an economy rate of 6.66. Marizanne Kapp also bowled economically conceding just 22 runs from her 3.1 overs. Delmi Tucker picked up the only other wicket to fall during the Pakistani innings. Tazmin Brits was the top run-getter for South African women scoring 46 runs from 48 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. The skipper Lauar Wolvaardt scored 41 runs from 34 balls with 6 fours.
