Pakistan U19

Pakistan has been clinical in its performance so far, winning both the matches by a comfortable margin. They are currently sitting at the top of the Group D table thanks to a better NRR compared to New Zealand.

Shahzaib Khan is in excellent form at the top of the order. He scored a brilliant century in the match against Afghanistan and will be looking to put up a similar performance in this match. Shahzaib will be joined by Shamyl Hussain as his opening partner.

Azan Awais is another batsman to watch out for in the middle order. His score of 63 was instrumental in helping the team win against Nepal. There are plenty of quality batsmen in the middle order including Saad Baig and Arafat Minhas but they have been a bit inconsistent in their performances.

The seam attack will be led by Ubaid Shah, who is the leading wicket-taker for his team with 6 wickets. He will be joined by Mohammad Zeeshan with the new ball. The spin department consists of Ahmad Hassan, Arafat Minhas, and Khubaib Khalil. 

New Zealand U19

New Zealand started its campaign with a big win over Nepal but they barely managed to scrape through against Afghanistan. While they are already through to the Super Six stage, a win here will get them the top spot on the table.

Snehith Reddy scored a brilliant century in the opening fixture but missed out on the last match. That left a big void in the batting as the New Zealand top order fell like 9-pins against Afghanistan’s strong spin attack. As many as 3 of the top 4 batsmen departed for a duck, while only two of the 11 players managed to reach a double-digit score.

So that will be something that the Black Caps will need to work on. Coming to the bowling, Matt Rowe was at the top of his game earlier this week as he picked up a fifer against Afghanistan. He is now among the top wicket-takers of this tournament.

He will lead the quick bowlers and will be joined by Oscar Jackson, Ryan Tsourgas, and Ewald Schreuder, while Zak Cumming and Oliver Tewatiya make up the rest of the bowling attack.
