Pakistan U19

Pakistan beat New Zealand, Nepal and Afghanistan to finish group D in first position. Two of those wins have afforded them second position in group one of the Super Sixes stage so far. Another victory, this time over a motivated Ireland XI, could really keep Pakistan among the genuine title contenders.

Shahzaib Khan has been Pakistan's standout performer with the bat this tournament. He has collected 223 runs in three innings. That's more than double the number of runs than any team-mate at the 2024 Under-19 World Cup. Shamyl Hussain has 108 in three. These two players could be key again here.

Ubaid Shah, meanwhile, has romped to nine wickets in three matches. To average three wickets per match, over an extended period, in this format, is impressive. Arafat Minhas has supported Shah well with six wickets. They are a challenging combination, indeed.

Ireland U19

Ireland almost did not reach this stage of the competition, but ultimately did on the back of a third-place finish in group A with one win and two defeats. They are at the very bottom of group one's Super Sixes points table - and are the obvious underdogs against Pakistan here.

Kian Hilton and Ryan Hunter have been Ireland's most prolific batters in the competition. Hilton has 122 runs in three innings to Hunter's 72 in three. Their numbers are not as impressive as Khan's, but there is plenty of opportunity to build on their performances so far.

Oliver Riley and John McNally have shared 11 wickets at this year's Under-19 World Cup. Both are promising seamers, who might be seen in Ireland's Test, ODI or T20I XI in the future. Anticipate big showings from both of them again in Potchefstroom, where conditions could suit the seamers.
