New Zealand lost the first T20I before moving into a promising position in the second. Rain at the Bay Oval, however, ultimately had the final say. Now, the most the hosts can do is draw the series against visiting opposition several positions lower than them in the International Cricket Council's rankings for T20I teams.
It's possible New Zealand will keep the same XI. This would give Tim Seifert the opportunity to build on the momentum gained from the 43 he put together in the previous match. Fellow opener Finn Allen, meanwhile, is struggling after successive failures this series.

Litton Das and Soumya Sarkar will be key with the bat for Bangladesh again. In the absence of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, Das and Sarkar are effectively tasked with scoring the bulk of the team's runs, if other resources are unable. Das top-scored with 42 in the series opener.
Shoriful Islam has taken four wickets this series and has looked the most impressive among Bangladesh's bowling attack. He is one of the best left-arm seamers in T20I cricket across the world at the moment. New Zealand's batters have struggled against his angles and pace.
Spin, again, could be vital for Bangladesh. Mahedi Hasan was named player of the match after the opening fixture. He bowled well in challenging conditions in Napier and, in Mount Maunganui, he'll have another chance to exploit extra bounce and turn.
