NZ vs BAN Team Previews

New Zealand

New Zealand lost the first T20I before moving into a promising position in the second. Rain at the Bay Oval, however, ultimately had the final say. Now, the most the hosts can do is draw the series against visiting opposition several positions lower than them in the International Cricket Council's rankings for T20I teams.

It's possible New Zealand will keep the same XI. This would give Tim Seifert the opportunity to build on the momentum gained from the 43 he put together in the previous match. Fellow opener Finn Allen, meanwhile, is struggling after successive failures this series.

New Zealand, like Bangladesh, are effectively preparing for next year's T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States of America. This is another chance for them to experiment with different personnel combinations and other tactics that'll need honing to win a world title.

The Black Caps are without a few first-choice bowlers this series. Ben Sears should get another chance this week to show why he is an impressive talent - and push for consistent selection in the T20I squad, if not the playing XI, going forward. Adam Milne, though more experienced than Sears, can do the same.

New Zealand Playing 11

Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Ben Sears.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh have a rare opportunity to seal a series win away from home, in foreign conditions, in New Zealand. They were relatively dominant with bat and ball in the first match and again showed promise with the ball in the second fixture. Here is their chance to finish the job after all the potential.

Litton Das and Soumya Sarkar will be key with the bat for Bangladesh again. In the absence of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, Das and Sarkar are effectively tasked with scoring the bulk of the team's runs, if other resources are unable. Das top-scored with 42 in the series opener.

Shoriful Islam has taken four wickets this series and has looked the most impressive among Bangladesh's bowling attack. He is one of the best left-arm seamers in T20I cricket across the world at the moment. New Zealand's batters have struggled against his angles and pace.

Spin, again, could be vital for Bangladesh. Mahedi Hasan was named player of the match after the opening fixture. He bowled well in challenging conditions in Napier and, in Mount Maunganui, he'll have another chance to exploit extra bounce and turn.

Bangladesh Playing 11

Soumya Sarkar, Rony Talukdar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Afif Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Mohammad Rishad Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Shamim Hossain.

NZ vs BAN Toss Prediction

The Bay Oval is the venue for this match. It also hosted the second match. Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field here previously. Their decision was largely influenced by impending rain. They wanted to chase an adjusted target later if necessary.

No team has ever won a T20I here batting second. If conditions are dryer this time, the team to win the toss will likely opt to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

The last three first-innings totals in T20I cricket here have been 238, 191 and 263. The team that bats first and scores 170-plus can consider this a competitive total.

It's probable both teams will field at least two specialist spinners again. Rain is forecast in Mount Maunganui on matchday again. We could be in for a shortened fixture.

NZ vs BAN Betting Tips

Despite New Zealand's homeground advantage and superior record, Bangladesh are in a stronger position to win here.

They have momentum from victory in the series opener and a well-balanced bowling attack to succeed against New Zealand's off-colour batting department.
