MLRW vs SYDW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Oct 28, 2023
It’s still quite a surprise that the Sixers are without a win this season, as they were the league’s best team last year with an 11-2 record. The Renegades have been playing reasonably well, but can’t seem to get any momentum right now and are 1-2.
Melbourne Renegades Women vs. Sydney Sixers Women will be played at the Junction Oval, Melbourne, on October 28th. Find out the results and tip guides for all cricket matches at the OCB homepage.
MLRW vs SYDW Team Previews
Melbourne Renegades Women
It’s not been the best batting performance from the Renegades so far, as no player is yet to score over 50. Webb is the highest scorer with 92 runs and Beaumont (87) and Kaur (85) aren’t far behind. The biggest concern is Matthews right now, who only has 40 runs in three games, which is shocking because she’s capable of much more (253 runs last season).
The bowling was a bit iffy in the loss to the Thunder, as the Renegades only took two wickets, and both of those were from Wareham. Matthews started the season well but went 0/34 in the last game, so the Renegades badly need her to turn things around.
Melbourne Renegades Women Playing 11
Hayley Matthews, Tammy Beaumont, Josephine Dooley, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jess Duffin, Georgia Wareham, Erica Kershaw, Georgia Prestwidge, Sarah Coyte, Ella Hayward, Sara Kennedy.
Sydney Sixers Women
Despite having a quality roster, the Sixers are winless and seem to be getting worse with each game. The injury to Healy is one thing, but there’s still enough talent in this team to pick up some victories.
Gardner (85 runs) and Perry (80 runs) are doing fine, but most of Gardner’s runs came in the first game when she made 72. The biggest surprise is the incredibly bad form of Bates (14 runs) and Burns (29 runs). These two batters are well known in the WBBL and are usually reliable, but for whatever reason, they can’t get going at the crease.
There’s a lot of work needed on the bowling, too, as Cheatle might have 6 wickets, but she’s given up 111 runs for a poor ER of 9.25. Kerr has 2/57 (8.14 ER) and Gardner is a bit better with 5/72, but this should be a bowling attack that opponents should fear, not enjoy.
Sydney Sixers Women Playing 11
Suzie Bates, Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, Erin Burns, Chloe Tryon, Maitlan Brown, Kate Pelle , Jess Kerr, Kate Peterson, Lauren Cheatle, Jade Allen.
MLRW vs SYDW Toss Prediction
Any captain who wins the toss would want to bat first and establish a large score, since it should put pressure on the other side to play recklessly and take risks. Of 33 games played here in the WBBL, 17 have been won when batting first.

Pitch and Conditions
The pace and bounce of the Junction Oval pitch are renowned for being consistent and less erratic, making it an excellent choice for batters. Skilled batters should have little trouble finding the boundaries, and the game should end in a high score.
MLRW vs SYDW Betting Tips
Right now, the Mostbet odds are actually fairly similar, so it’s a tough call to know which team can get their act together. Based on previous results, we’d have to go with the Renegades, as they’ve shown some fight and heart at least. We’re not convinced about the Sixers until they prove it on the pitch.

Bonus Cricket Bets
Of all the Sixers players, Gardner is perhaps the most likely to get over 50 and give them a chance. She had 339 runs last season and already has scored a 50 this season, so she's always a fierce batter aiming for the boundaries.
Surprisingly, Webb has been the Renegades' most reliable batter so far with 92 runs and a Strike Rate of 115.00. The odds are fantastic here and there's a huge reward on offer, so take this chance. Webb has displayed good form already and it's too good to ignore.
Wareham is solid at the moment with figures of 5/87 after 11 overs, so if she keeps this up, then she's a certainty to be the best bowler in this match. Her stats are quite close to those of Matthews, but we just like the odds a bit more for Wareham.
