Maharashtra

After winning its first match of the season against Bengal, Maharashtra was stunned by Uttarakhand in a rain-curtailed match earlier this week.

Maharashtra has a strong batting line-up and will look to post a big total as it faces an average bowling attack. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Arshin Kulkarni are likely to open the batting. Gaikwad slammed an excellent half-century in the match against Bengal and will look to replicate the performance in this match.

The middle order consists of skipper Kedar Jadhav, Nikhil Naik, and Mandar Bhandari. Naik appeared to be in fine touch as he scored an unbeaten 33 in his last outing, albeit for a losing cause. The bowling has been a big letdown for the team so far. Arshin Kulkarni and Vicky Ostwal have picked up two wickets each, while the team’s top bowlers, including RS Hangargekar and Azim Kazi,have struggled to keep a cap on the opposition batsmen. 

Puducherry

After its first match of the tournament was washed away, Puducherry has faced consecutive defeats against Jharkhand and Bengal. As a result, it is languishing at the bottom of the Group D table and another loss here will further diminish its chances of qualifying for the next stage.

Arun Karthik and Akash Kargave will be the key batsmen for Puducherry in this match. Both of them are in good form and scored individual half-centuries in the match against Jharkhand. Captain Damodaran Rohit will join Kargave at the top of the order, while Paras Dogra, P Sivaraman, and V Marimuthu will follow them lower down.

None of them have been able to play a match-winning inning so far. The bowling options for Puducherry are pretty limited too. Aravinddaraj will start the attack with the new ball and will be joined by Gaurav Yadav at the other end. Fabid Ahmed has been the most successful bowler for the team so far with 4 wickets.

He will helm the spin department along with Bharat Sharma and Gurvinder Singh.
