LAN vs DER Match Prediction - Jun 23, 2023

Lancashire is tied with Worcestershire and Yorkshire with 12 points, but no team can really afford a loss with the race to the finals being so close. Lancashire’s 6-5 is decent, although their three-game winning streak was stopped by a defeat to Worcestershire.

Derbyshire (4-5) will likely find it too hard to reach the knockout round, but it is possible if they pick up a five-game winning streak… you never know. The recent record is quite wild, with two wins, two losses, and one tie, but we’re interested to see if they can make one last go at the finals. Lancashire vs. Derbyshire will take place at the famous Old Trafford, Manchester, on June 23rd. Use these betting apps to stay up-to-date on all cricket matches.

LAN vs DER Team Previews

Lancashire

Mitchell (383) and Croft (285) are without a doubt the two players holding Lancashire in check. However, Croft hasn’t played in the last two games but we hope he returns soon, as he scored a whopping 101 runs in a recent victory.

Mitchell is just tremendously reliable, which is precisely what the squad needs at this particular moment. His 47.87 average is exceptional, and before his rather rare duck against Worcestershire, he had scored 141 runs in three games.

Buttler has put in a commendable effort for the side, scoring 198 runs in just seven innings, however, Phil Salt's batting has left us a little underwhelmed. With only 134 runs in nine innings and a top score of 34, Salt looks bad and is way below expectations for an opening batter.

With an amazing performance of 14/303 (7.60 ER) over 11 innings, Luke Wood has shown to be the team's most dependable bowler. Even if it might be unexpected to see him take 3/11 in one game and 0/29 in another, he is still a player you want on your squad.

Mitchell is demonstrating his value as a bowler and batter, as seen by his outstanding bowling statistics of 9/203 so far and an incredible 3/9 in just double overs versus Worcestershire.

Lancashire Playing 11

Philip Salt, Jos Buttler, Luke Wells, Steven Croft, Daryl Mitchell, Liam Livingstone, Dane Vilas, Rob Jones, Tom Hartley, Luke Wood, Tom Bailey.

Derbyshire

Derbyshire must feel like they’re wasting some fantastic batting from Wayne Madsen, as he’s just exceptional and is the third-best scorer in the league with 451 runs. That said, his performances lately have been iffy, as he went from scoring 109* to just 46 runs over his last three games.

Ali (303) and Reece (258) are performing respectable enough, but you’d hope for a bit more from Guest, with only 158 runs for the season. Derbyshire needs far more support for Madsen, especially if he’s not batting well.

Derbyshire’s bowlers have been doing their part to help the team stay competitive, it should be said. Chappell (19/318) and Khan (16/306) have been taking wickets at a rapid rate, but also managing to not give up a whole heap of runs. Keep an eye on Scrimshaw, as he’s on 15/314 and was excellent against Yorkshire with 2/8 in only two overs.

Derbyshire Playing 11

Haider Ali, Luis Reece, Harry Came, Wayne Madsen, Leus du Plooy, Brooke Guest, Mattie McKiernan, Zak Chappell, Alex Thomson, George Scrimshaw, Zaman Khan.

LAN vs DER Toss Prediction

Any side that wins the toss must choose to bat first so they may take advantage of the pitch's favourable conditions. Since the pitch isn't very springy generally, the side batting first will have an advantage.

Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.

Pitch and Conditions

Any team batting first often makes high scores and wins because the Old Trafford pitch normally favours batters. Currently, in T20 matches played on this surface, the side batting first wins by a score of 31–22. Since spinners have historically had good fortune in this area, it won't be shocking if they take any surprise wickets.

LAN vs DER Betting Tips

Lancashire will likely be the Mostbet favourite here, and we have to think that they’ll continue their winning ways and defeat Derbyshire. It’s going to be a close contest, but Lancashire has won 4/5 times versus Derbyshire. Lancashire will certainly need Croft to be back and Mitchell to keep scoring quickly Luke Wood’s bowling will be the X Factor, as he needs to limit Madsen’s scoring.

Bet on Lancashire to win.

It seems strange to us that Mitchell's odds are better than Phil Salt's, for example. Mitchell can get a good money return, and now's a good chance to bet, as he's totalled 383 runs and averaging 47.87. He made 60 and 48 in recent games, while Salt's highest score is just 34. Mitchell is a good choice.

It's a bit unusual to select Mitchell for best batter and bowler, but the odds are just too good to ignore. Furthermore, Mitchell is the second-best bowler on the team, with stats of 9/203 for the season. He's taken 3/9 and 2/25 in recent games, so it's not impossible that he'll do something similar.

The odds for Madsen probably aren't worth it as these are low, but Reece is a good option. He made a top score of 58 recently, and has a total of 263 for the season. He's made three half-centuries this season, so he can have another great game if Madsen falls early.
