WOR vs DUR Match Prediction - Jun 30, 2023

Worcestershire must be kicking themselves that they couldn’t defeat a weakened Birmingham team, as the Bears are without Hain and Miles for likely the remainder of the T20 Blast campaign. A poor bowling effort and little help from their batting stars meant that Birmingham cruised to victory by 53 runs. Worcestershire is still 7-5 and third on the table, however.

Durham (4-6) look unlikely to reach the quarter-finals, as the record is simply too far away from their competitors. The squad has had five terrible recent games, including three losses, one tie, and one no result.

Worcestershire vs. Durham will take place at Grace Road, Leicester, on June 30th. See here for all the latest cricket betting tips happening now.

WOR vs DUR Team Previews

Worcestershire

Worcestershire still has a pretty good chance to do some damage in the knockout round, as they’re currently with 14 points and sit on third place in the North Group. They had three good wins in a row before the loss to Birmingham, but they can secure their next round with a big win over Durham.

Worcestershire’s batting lineup has been solid, with Brett D'Oliveira the most reliable player out there with 338 runs, although he’s rarely a big hitter, as his high score is only 51*. Hose is wildly inconsistent, but has still managed to amass 332 runs.

We’re most excited about Haynes (285) and Santner (285), as they’ve been hitting huge scores lately, which is just what Worcestershire needs to stay aggressive.

The news that pace bowler, Josh Tongue, has been called up for the Ashes means that Worcestershire will be without another quality player in the ranks. Tongue bowled in three innings and took 4/109, but there’s still Brown, D'Oliveira, and Mir to handle the bowling.

Pat Brown is arguably the team’s best wicket-taker with 21 this season, but he’s also quite uneconomical, as he’s given up 453 runs (11.66 ER) and was terrible in the loss to Birmingham with a 0/63 performance. If D'Oliveira (15/230) and Mir (13/216) keep up their recent bowling efforts, then Worcestershire is in good hands. Mir needs to improve though, as he has one wicket in his last three matches.

Worcestershire Playing 11

Brett D Oliveira, Jack Haynes, Mitchell Santner, Adam Hose, Kashif Ali, Ben Cox, Ed Pollock, Usama Mir, Adam Finch, Dillon Pennington, Pat Brown.

Durham

Robinson (357) and Lees (333) have both put up a good amount of runs throughout the season, although it still hasn’t helped Durham raise their place on the table. Robinson has his moments, but is harder to predict, as his recent scores range from 102 to 8 to 54. Robinson is only 24 years old, so he has a bright future in cricket and will improve.

Durham certainly has decent bowlers, although it’s rare that all of them are playing great on the same day. Sowter (21/297) and Raine 14/272 have been great this season, especially after Raine’s 4/30 effort against Birmingham, but you’d like to see everyone making a consistent performance to result in getting wins.

Durham Playing 11

Graham Clark, Alex Lees, Michael Jones, Brydon Carse, Ollie Robinson, Ashton Turner, Liam Trevaskis, Brandon Glover, Nathan Sowter, George Drissell, Ben Raine.

WOR vs DUR Toss Prediction

When winning the toss, teams often prefer to bowl first, although on 28/54 occasions, the team batting second has gone on to win the game. Expect Worcestershire to bowl first if they win the toss

Pitch and Conditions

In the first innings, the Grace Road pitch traditionally favours bowlers, as the new ball moves ferociously off the surface. The pitch might slow down a little bit later in the game since the outfield isn't as fast as other locations.

WOR vs DUR Betting Tips

Although it’s true that Durham defeated Worcestershire in the last meeting by 48 runs, that was last season and a lot has changed since then. Worcestershire has a better overall record against Durham and is fighting hard for a place in the quarter-finals.

The Mostbet odds are a bit less exciting for Worcestershire, but we still believe that they’re the superior team with D'Oliveira playing so well with both bat and ball.

Robinson's odds are actually quite high, and that's unusual for the top scorer with 357 runs. Jump on this chance while you can, as Robinson has scored as much as 102 this season. Some scores can be low, but he's getting better as the T20 Blast progresses, so he can certainly score big.

We're not sure why Hose's odds are still so high, as he's pretty unreliable at the crease. D'Oliveira is a good bet, but we prefer Haynes, as the money return is far higher and there's a chance he could take a leap in this match. He already has 285 runs and had decent scores of 63 and 34 lately. (285

His odds are better than Mir, which means it's a good chance to bet now, as Brown rarely has a bad game. With 21 wickets, he's the league leader, but we hope he can give up less runs than usual (bad ER of 11.66). Still, his recent games have included great efforts of 2/44 and 3/32, so he can certainly lead Worcestershire as a bowler.
