INDW vs ENGW Team Previews

India Women

India W will be very disappointed with their performance in the T20 series. Despite having a strong team on paper and playing with a home advantage, they failed to capitalize and lost the first two matches, and with that, the series too. India did manage to score a consolation victory in the 3rd T20 and will hope to continue with the winning momentum.

India is hosting a Test match after a gap of 9 years. Except for Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, none of the players have played a red-ball international in India and thus will be eager to prove their mettle. While the hosts have retained most of its T20 squad, there are some changes to fortify the batting and the bowling. Harleen Deol and Sneh Rana come in to add depth to the batting line-up.

They also provide variety to the spin attack. Meghna Singh is a quality seamer who can be quite effective with the new ball. India W were let down by the batting in the T20 series and will look to improve on that. There are familiar faces in the squad like Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Shafali Verma.

At least one of them needs to play a big inning in this match.

England Women

England W’s record against India W in Test matches isn’t the best. Buoyed by their success in the shortest format, the team will now hope to get better of the hosts in this match.

The biggest change for the visitors is in the form of Tammy Beaumont, who comes back into the opening slot. Beaumont had a decent outing in the WBBL. Nevertheless, she has a good record in Test cricket and will likely be joined by Sophia Dunkley.

The middle order remains relatively unchanged. Heather Knight, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amy Jones, and Danielle Wyatt are all in fine form and will look to score some big runs. Lauren Bell and Kate Cross will start the proceedings with the new ball.

They will be joined by Lauren Filer in the seam attack. Sophie Ecclestone had an excellent time in the T20s and will lead the spin department.

Pitch and Conditions

The DY Patil Stadium hasn’t hosted a Test match yet and it remains to be seen how the pitch behaves in the longest format. However, the limited-overs matches have shown that the surface is good to bat on as it provides true pace and bounce.

Like with all subcontinental pitches, the surface will degrade and get harder to bat on as the days progress. The spinners will come into action in the last couple of days.

The weather is likely to be clear with plenty of sunshine and temperatures between 25 and 32 degrees Celsius.

INDW vs ENGW Betting Tips

While India were below par in the T20s, they remain a quality side. We expect them to bounce back and match England punch for punch. Both sides are quite even and a stalemate might be in store.

Bet on a draw.
