The Gujarat team played their last game in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy earlier today in Ranchi. This Group C encounter saw Andhra defeating Gujarat by a huge margin of 8 wickets. Batting first, Gujarat managed to score 165 runs all out from their 20 overs. The Andhra batters were able to chase this decent target down easily with 8 wickets to spare. They reached the score in 17.4 overs to record a good win. Batting first in this game, Gujarat lost an early wicket of Priyank Panchal for 7 runs.

But Urvil Patel hung around and took the innings forward. But the real impetus to the Gujarat inning was provided by Aarya Desai in the lower middle order. He smacked 62 runs from 35 balls with 5 sixes and 3 fours. However, none of the batters around him could provide too much support to him and in the end, Gujarat could muster up 162 runs as a target for Andhra. This score was never going to be enough on this track that was full of runs. Umang Kumar also scored 24 runs from 13 balls. The Andhra team made short work of this target with the openers scoring 87 runs for the first wicket itself from 10.2 overs. The only Gujarat bowler that was successful was Ravi Bishnoi who picked up both the wickets that fell during the Andhra inning. None of the other bowlers could perform any decent containment job. Punjab

Punjab has succeeded in putting together a winning streak in this year's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In another Group C encounter against Manipur, they made light of a modest total set by Manipur. This game was also played in Ranchi earlier today. Batting first, Manipur managed to put up a score of 93 runs for the loss of 8 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. The Punjab team chased this target easily with as many as 8 wickets to spare. They reached the target in 9.2 overs only and recorded a win with more than 10 overs to spare.

Manipur was in trouble immediately in this game right at the start of their innings. They kept losing wickets regularly and their top run-getter in the game was Kangabam Priyojit with 22 runs. All the bowlers used in the game by Punjab were successful in picking up wickets. The pick of the bowlers was Mayank Markande. He picked up 2 wickets for 19 runs from his 4 overs. Siddarth Kaul also picked up 2 wickets for 25 runs and the Punjab quick Arshadeep Singh also collected a couple of victims for 21 runs from his 4 overs.

The Punjab opening batters were on a rampage immediately with 70 runs coming in 6.4 overs for the first wicket. This target set by Manipur was so small that even when a couple of wickets fell there was no real way of putting pressure on the batters. Abhishek Sharma scored 53 runs from 26 balls with 3 sixes and 7 fours. Prabhsimran also scored 30 runs from 22 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. The Punjab middle order was not even required to participate in the run chase. They reached the target in just 9.2 overs.
