Durban Super Giants

The Durban Super Giants franchise is owned by the RPSG Group, which also owns one of the newest IPL teams, the Lucknow Super Giants.

Quinton de Kock will be leading the team this season. De Kock has led the South African national team in the past and has plenty of experience in this format. However, he is not the only big-hitter in the squad. De Kock will be supported at the top of the order by Heinrich Klaasen and Johnson Charles.

The Super Giants have spent a good amount on recruiting all-rounders for the team. Kyle Mayers, Keemo Paul, Jason Holder, and Dwaine Pretorius will all be seen in the Super Giants jersey this year. The pace attack will be led by Hardus Viljoen and Reece Topley, while Keshav Maharaj and Akila Dhananjaya are the key spinners in the squad. 

Joburg Super Kings

The Super Kings will go with Faf du Plessis as their skipper for this season. Du Plessis has been a consistent performer in the T20s, especially in the IPL. Faf du Plessis has been a part of the title-winning CSK team for 2 seasons, in 2018 as well as 2021, and will be glad to play under the Super Kings umbrella yet again.

Unlike their opponents, the Super Kings do not have plenty of all-rounders but they have managed to strike a good balance between batsmen and bowlers. Local boys Reeza Hendricks and Janneman Malan are the biggest names to join their skipper at the top of the order, while Leus Deus Plooy, Kyle Verreyenne, and Donavon Ferreira add strength to the middle order.

Bowling is perhaps the biggest strength of this Super Kings squad as it contains some world-class bowlers like Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, and George Garton. Sri Lankan seamer Maheesh Theekshana is also expected to join the squad at a later stage. Other names in the bowling line-up include Lewis Gregory and Gerald Coetzee.
