Bangladesh Women

Bangladesh put up an excellent performance in the opening fixture to trump Pakistan and take an early lead. They now have a good opportunity of securing their first-ever T20 series win against the visitors.

Powered by a record-breaking performance by Nahida Akter, Bangladesh W limited Pakistan to a modest total of 82 and bowled them out inside 20 overs. Akter returned with the best spell by a bowler for Bangladesh W in T20Is, picking up 5 wickets for just 8 runs.

She was well-supported by Sultana Khatun, Rabeya Khan, and Shorna Akter, all of whom kept a tight leash on Pakistan W batters. Chasing the modest target, the hosts didn’t have the best of starts as they lost Shamima Sultana with just 12 runs on the board.

However, her opening partner Murshida Khatun stabilized the innings with Sobhana Mostary, while skipper Nigar Sultana added valuable 26 runs towards the end as the hosts crossed the finish line with 3 balls to spare.

While Bangladesh did win the match, they will need to iron out a few shortcomings to put up a repeat performance. 

Pakistan Women

Pakistan has been pretty inconsistent with its recent performances, especially in the shortest format. The loss against Bangladesh in the first match will only add insult to injury.

It was an overall failure on the part of Pakistan W as none of the departments managed to put up a good show. The opening pair of Sidra Ameen and Muneeba Ali fell quite cheaply. Nida Dar and Bismah Maroof put up some resistance as they put up 31 runs for the 3rd wicket.

However, once Nida Dar departed, the floodgates opened and Pakistan W lost their last 7 wickets for only 26 runs. The batters lower down the order, including Aliya Riaz, Iram Javed, and Natalia Pervaiz will need to step up and give the team a good finish in this game.

The bowlers, especially the spinners, kept things tight but given the fact that they had a very modest total to defend in the first place, there was very little they could do. Pakistan W will need its senior players to step up to get the team out of this trough.
