The Team Abu Dhabi played its first game of the competition just a while earlier against the Chennai Braves. This Day/Night game was played at the same venue Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Noor Ahmad however was the pick of the bowlers giving away just 9 runs from 2 overs. The Abu Dhabi reply in this game was a spirited one. They received a quick start from their openers, Kyle Mayers and Alex Hales. But it was Leus du Plooy who took the team close to a win with a brilliant 47 not out from just 18 balls with 4 sixes. Abu Dhabi will once again rely on these players to get them across the line.

Northern Warriors

Unlike their opposition in this game, Northern Warriors men made a winning start to the competition by registering a win against Samp Army. Northern Warriors raised 103 runs from their ten overs while losing five wickets. Despite a spirited chase, the Samp Army could manage 94 runs while losing eight wickets from their ten overs. Abhimanyu Mithun from the Northern Warriors team was adjudged Player of the Match for his two wickets for 12 runs. Although Angelo Matthews picked up more wickets, Mithun bowled more economically.

Matthews managed to pick up three wickets for 19 runs from his two overs. James Nisham also successfully picked up two wickets for 19 runs from his two overs. The Northern Warriors’ top-order batting successfully provided an excellent start to the Northern Warriors innings. But the real impetus to the Warriors inning was provided by Colin Munro. He hit 36 runs from 15 balls with three sixes and two fours. Hazratullah Zazai also scored a valuable 20 runs from 15 balls at the top of the batting order.
