Prabhsimran Singh to score a 50
There is a slight risk to this option. Singh is not as accomplished in the IPL as some of his teammates and even comparing to the opposition lineup. His talent is showing with every innings he plays though. He hit a score of 69 runs off 34 balls against Lucknow previously.
First ball of the match to be a dot ball
Lucknow Super Giants faced an opening over against Mumbai Indians which started with a dot ball and featured half an over of dot balls in total. This is one of the more risk averse bets out there.
Both teams have had their fair share of inconsistency this season. The Lucknow team have won as many matches as they’ve lost. After ten games, they’ve won five and lost five. Punjab is doing slightly better with more wins than losses. The home team will be grateful for having the opportunity to play at home in what looks to be a pivotal match to determine play-off positions.

Their most recent clash was this year when the Punjab Kings won in convincing fashion away from home. Before this year, the Super Giants had won three of the past four clashes between them and the Kings.
Punjab Kings will be the hosts at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium when they play against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, 4 May 2025. This IPL fixture will be available to view on either of the Star Sports Network or the JioHotstar app.
Young openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya have consistently provided rapid starts, each accumulating 346 runs in IPL 2025. Arya smashed the fastest century against Chennai. Singh has two back-to-back half-centuries in his past two innings. He hit 54 against CSK. Skipper Shreyas Iyer adds stability and firepower. He led his team to a four-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings by scoring 72 runs off 41.
The middle order features Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh stepping up with valuable cameos when called upon. Both power-hitters have over 500 runs in their IPL careers. Wicketkeeper Josh Inglis has had limited opportunities so far, but he offers an extra attacking option and reliable glovework should the situation demand. His time will come with the bat because he has four T20 centuries.
Afghan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai has chipped in with timely wickets and adds handy lower-order runs when needed. He has a combination of over 1000 T20 runs and over 100 T20 wickets.
Left-arm pacers Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen form a potent new-ball duo, often striking early in the powerplay. The pair took four wickets between them in the previous match. In the spin department, left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar has provided control in the middle overs, while veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has emerged as a trump card. He delivered a four-wicket over against the Super Kings.

Lucknow’s batting is firing on all cylinders in 2025. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram have given Lucknow flying starts in IPL 2025. Marsh has already smashed four half-centuries and is forming a formidable opening partnership with Markram.
The South African has over 300 IPL runs this season. West Indian power-hitter Nicholas Pooran remains their most consistent match-winner, highlighted by a recent unbeaten 87 not out and batting average of almost 45. Captain-wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, normally a game-changer, is still searching for runs after a slow start to 2025. He has one IPL century and 19 IPL half-centuries in his career.
Ayush Badoni and David Miller provide middle-order stability and finishing firepower. Badoni blasted his way to 35 runs against Mumbai. Abdul Samad has emerged as an X-factor finisher, smashing at an impressive strike rate just over 185 so far.
Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi remains a reliable wicket-taker. He has 72 IPL wickets. Pacer Avesh Khan spearheads the attack with raw pace, while the Yadavs Prince and Mayank add depth to the pace battery. Both Avesh Khan and Mayank Yadav grabbed two wickets against Mumbai Indians.

This may not be a straightforward toss. Three of the past five results between the sides have been won by the team batting first. Both matches at Dharamsala in 2024 were won by the side batting first. The factor that turns it though, is the wet conditions leading up to the match. Both captains could use that information in their potential choice of bowling first.
Dharamsala’s Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium has produced a combination of high-scoring games and evenly balanced games in 2024. The average first innings total on its batting-friendly surface last season was 204. The pitch offers bounce and some swing for fast bowlers early on. Even with the higher scoring, chasing the bigger scores seemed to be tough.
The weather is expected to be cooler than normal in the late teens in degrees Celsius. Conditions will still be heavily humid though. There is a lot of light rain expected in the days leading up to and including a 25 percent chance of rain on the day of the match.
Punjab Kings will be looking to impose their authority over the Lucknow Super Giants once again. Their showing earlier in the season will give them a step ahead of their opponents. The visitors are on a bit of a tipping point where a loss could be detrimental to their chances of progressing.
PBKS vs LSG win percentage stands at 56% in favor of PBKS.
