Total runs scored in 1st innings Over 186.5
The Eden Gardens has hosted some high-scoring matches this year and we expect a similar playing surface for this match as well. In each of the last 5 matches played here, the team batting first has scored at least 187 runs and we expect that trend to continue.
Ajinkya Rahane to score Over 25.5 runs
Ajinkya Rahane is the leading run-scorer for KKR this year and has an average of 36.33. He has scored at least 26 runs in 5 of his last 7 innings, including 2 half-centuries. He has an excellent record at Eden Gardens and has scored at least 26 runs in each of his last 7 innings here. We are therefore backing him to play a big knock
The Chennai Super Kings will look to get back to winning ways as they take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in a mid-week clash. The two teams will face off at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.

The two teams have faced each other in 30 matches to date. The Chennai Super Kings are the dominant side with 19 wins, while KKR won 11.

The Kolkata Knight Riders are coming into this contest on the back of a hard-fought win over the Rajasthan Royals. As a result, the team has climbed up to the 6th place on the table and is still in the race for the playoffs.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine will once again open the batting for KKR in this match. Both players are known for their explosive batting and will look to give the team a strong start. Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been pretty solid in the middle order and has been a perfect partner for Ajinkya Rahane. The duo is the leading run-scorer for the team.
While the form of Venkatesh Iyer remains a concern, the fans would have been delighted to see Andre Russell score a brisk half-century in the previous match and play an important role in the team’s win over RR.
With Moeen Ali back in the playing XI, KKR has plenty of depth in its batting. Moeen will also support Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine in the spin department. The former is the leading wicket-taker for the team this season. Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana will lead the attack with the new ball and have picked up 13 wickets each.
Kolkata Knight Riders Expected Playing 11
Sunil Narine, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (WK), Ajinkya Rahane (C), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Venkatesh Iyer, Moeen Ali, Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Rinku Singh
The Chennai Super Kings’ poor run in this season of the IPL continues with their latest loss against RCB on Saturday. With that loss, CSK has lost 4 matches on the trot and is placed at the bottom of the table.
While Shaik Rasheed’s poor form at the top of the order seems to have no end, Ayush Mhatre played a brilliant knock in the match against RCB on Saturday, scoring the first half-century of his IPL career. CSK needs the opening pair to give them a strong start.
The middle order too has struggled to get going. While Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja have played a couple of decent knocks, that has had little impact on the team’s fortunes. The others in the batting line-up include Dewald Brevis, Sam Curran, and MS Dhoni, who provide plenty of depth.
The bowlers have fared better in terms of wickets, with Noor Ahmad being the team’s leading wicket-taker. Ravindra Jadeja will support him in the spin department. The two seamers, Khaleel Ahmed and Matheesha Pathirana have picked up 26 wickets between them but have been quite expensive.
Shaik Rasheed, Ayush Mhatre, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Sam Curran, Dewald Brevis, Deepak Hooda, Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, Matheesha Pathirana
6 of the last 10 matches played at Eden Gardens were won while batting first. While in 8 of those games, the team winning the toss has opted to field first, we feel that batting first might be a better option here.
The Eden Gardens has offered some excellent batting surfaces this season and we can expect another flat pitch for this match. The stadium has hosted 6 games so far this year and that has formed some rough spots on both sides of the stumps. The spinners are likely to get some turn if they try to aim for these patches. It has been raining in Kolkata over the last few days and there will be some moisture in the pitch as well, allowing the ball to skid.
The par score here this season has been around 200. The weather in Kolkata is likely to remain overcast till Wednesday and there is a high probability that we may see some interruptions or delays due to rain. There is also a chance that the game could be shortened.
We are backing the Kolkata Knight Riders to win this match. While CSK has historically performed well against KKR, their form this year has been far from perfect. The team has failed to perform well as a unit and seems to be pretty low on confidence. KKR aren’t consistent as well, but with a spot in the playoffs on the line, we expect them to put their 100% on the field.
KKR vs CSK win percentage stands at 58% in favor of KKR.
