In this year's BPL, we have seen many scores over 67 runs, such as Usman Khan, Litton Das, and NLTC Perera hitting hundreds. Even in the last game between the two sides, Dawid Malan scored 67 runs while Pervez Hossain Emon scored 75 runs.
The opening pair for Chittagong Kings, Khawaja Nafay and Parvez Hossain Emon, put together 58 runs for the first wicket in their last game in 6.5 overs. You can expect these in-form batters to score more runs than the Fortune Barishal openers Tamim Iqbal and Towhid Hridoy, who failed in the last contest.
In the first qualifier game of the Bangladesh Premier League for the 2025 season, Chittagong Kings will take on Fortune Barishal tomorrow at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur Dhaka. These two teams finished at the top of the points table in the league phase of the tournament.
Fortune Barishal and Chattogram Kings had played against each other on seven occasions before this contest in BPL when we received a clear mandate. Barishal led this head-to-head 5-2. These two teams played against each other twice in the league stage of the competition this year to record one win each.
This contest will be aired on Zoom TV in India, and live streaming will be available on the FanCode app and website.
The Fortune Barishal team finished at the top of the points table in the league stages of the competition. They won nine games out of 12 and had 18 points to their credit. No one else could win as many games as Fortune Barishal. Barishal has won four out of their last five games in the competition; however, they lost the previous game they played against Chittagong by a margin of 24 runs.
Chittagong batters took Fortune Barishal to the cleaners by scoring 206 runs from their twenty overs. The Barishal team could manage 182 runs from their quota of overs and lost seven wickets during the chase.
Tamim Iqbal will lead the batting charge for Fortune Barishal in this contest. He has scored 295 runs in his last ten games with an average of 42.14 and a strike rate of 121.9.
Dawid Malan also did well after arriving on the Fortune Barishal team. He has scored 281 runs in his last seven appearances with an average of 70.25 and a strike rate of 157.86.
Faheem Ashraf has been their top bowler, scoring 19 wickets from nine games and having a strike rate of 10.42. Tanvir Islam has also picked up ten wickets from his last eight games with a strike rate of 12.
Chittagong Kings have also done well to reach this stage of the competition. They played 12 games and won eight of them to collect 16 points. They finished the league stage in second position in the points table. Kings are entering this contest after three wins over Rangpur, Strikers, and Barishal.
They have also won four out of their last five games and have a better net run rate than Barishal. The Chittagong batters were sublime in their previous encounter against this attack, raising over 200 runs batting first.
The overseas player Graham Clarke has scored 337 runs in his last ten games with an average of 33.7 and a strike rate of 151.12. Mohammad Mithun scored 226 runs from his last ten games with an average of 32.29 and a strike rate of 129.14.
The top bowler for the Kings has been Khaled Ahmed. He has picked up 16 wickets from his last nine games with a strike rate of 12.31. Shoriful Islam has also picked up ten wickets from his nine games with a strike rate of 18.9.
We have seen as many as 271 domestic T20 games played at the Sheree Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur Dhaka. The teams chasing a target have had a better time with 150 wins. So, the skipper winning the coin flip is likely to take to the field first.
The Shere Bangla National Stadium will offer a flat and batting-friendly track for this game. This pitch will help the batters, especially in the early part of the contest. However, other things, such as moisture, wear and tear of the track, and weather, can affect the nature of the track. We are expecting clear weather conditions for this contest.
We think the defending champions have the experience and the pedigree needed to reach the BPL Final once more. Their batting is strong and their bowling is also quite effective.
Bet on Fortune Barishal to win.
