Gurbaz is in excellent form this season and has scored 160 runs at an average of 80.00. He has been the top-scorer for the team in 2 of the last 3 matches and we are backing him to do so again.
Dawid Malan and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have given the team a couple of good starts and have put up partnerships of at least 61 runs in 2 of the last 3 matches. On the other hand, the opening pair of New York has crossed the 34-run mark just once in their 4 matches. We are therefore expecting the Nawabs to put up the bigger partnership.
The New York Strikers will look to get into the top 4 as they take on the UP Nawabs in match number 24 of the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League. The two teams will faceoff on Wednesday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
This is the first match between the two teams in this league.
This match will be live-streamed on the FanCode App.
After losing the first two matches, the UP Nawabs have gained some momentum by winning its last two games. Nevertheless, the team is still in the bottom half of the table and has plenty of work ahead.
Skipper Rahmanullah Gurbaz has led his team from the front, scoring 2 half-centuries, and is the team’s leading run-scorer. He will be joined by Avishka Fernando at the top of the order. The duo will look to give the team a strong start.
Andre Fletcher is another key batsman for the Nawabs and has scored 84 runs at a strike rate of 233.33. However, the all-rounders Odean Smith and Curtis Campher haven’t made much of an impact with the bat. The bowlers have performed relatively better.
The seamers, Binura Fernando and Tymall Mills have picked up 6 wickets each. Adil Rashid and Akhilesh Reddy are likely to be the two spinners in the playing XI and have picked up 4 wickets between them.
With 2 wins and as many losses in 4 games, the New York Strikers are currently placed 5th on the points table. They are coming into this contest on the back of a huge 10-wicket victory over Team Abu Dhabi and will be high on confidence as it heads into this contest.
Kusal Perera scored a brisk half-century in the previous match and seems to be peaking in form at the right time. His opening partner, Evin Lewis is a clean striker of the ball as well. The middle order consists of Kieron Pollard, Zeeshan Abid, and Donovan Ferreira.
The New Strikers also has Sunil Narine coming in lower down. He can play the role of a finisher to perfection. Narine is also a quality spinner known for his miserly bowling. He will be joined by Akeal Hosein during the middle overs.
The seam department consists of Matheesha Pathirana, Mohammad Amir, Khuzaima Tanveer, and Doug Bracewell. Amir has bowled beautifully to pick up 6 wickets.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The Sheikh Zayed Stadium usually offers a good batting track and we can expect a similar trend for this match as well. The par score on this surface is around 110. That said, bowlers who bend their backs will be rewarded. The spinners will get some help as the ball gets older and softer.
The weather is likely to be clear with temperatures of around 27 degrees.
Both teams have lacked consistency this season and will be desperate for a victory in this match. Seeing some of the recent performances, we feel that the UP Nawabs have a slight edge in this contest thanks to a couple of batsmen who are in good form and a balanced bowling attack.
Bet on the UP Nawabs to win.
