PAKW vs IREW Match Preview

It took an excellent all-round performance by Nida Dar to get Pakistan over the line in the second match.

While the batting was Pakistan’s biggest strength in the ODI series, it has been disappointing, to say the least in the T20s. Other than Nida, none of the batters have managed to take on the Irish bowlers, and that has led to difficulties in chasing even a modest total. Ghulam Fatima was excellent in the ODIs but has failed to have an impact. Most of the wickets for Pakistan have been taken by Nida Dar and Nashra Sandhu.

Ireland pulled up one of the biggest upsets in Women’s cricket this year, as it defeated Pakistan in the first T20. They came close to victory in the second game too, but the hosts snatched a win with just 6 deliveries to spare.

Orla Prendergast has been in excellent form, taking 3 wickets and scoring 59 runs in 2 matches. Gaby Lewis was excellent in the first match, while Amy Hunter managed to give her team a good start in the second match.

The bowling hasn’t been that great for Ireland, as most of the heavy lifting has been done by Orla and Arlene Kelly.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to be clear, with temperatures around the mid-20s.

Pitch Report

As seen in the two matches, the Gaddafi Stadium provides good assistance to the bowlers, especially the spinners. Pitch is relatively easier to bat on in the first innings. The quicker bowlers are likely to struggle as there is little swing or movement of the seam. The average first innings score here is around 135.

Notable stats

Nida Dar’s Excellent Batting

While Nida has been great with her bowling, she is a vital cog for Pakistan in the middle order. Nida has an aggregate of 234 runs in the last 9 matches, with an incredible average of 58.5

Orla Prendergast’s Explosive Batting

Orla is indispensable in the scheme of things for Ireland. She has been consistent with her batting as well as bowling. Orla has scored 270 runs in the last 10 games, at an incredible strike rate of 133.

Team News

There are no injuries reported from any of the squads, and we are likely to see the same playing XI.

Dream11 Prediction

We are predicting a win for Pakistan. The team has plenty of match-winners within the squad. The batting is much stronger compared to Ireland, while the bowling too, especially Sandhu and Nida, is in great form.

Top Picks

Nida Dar: Nida is a strong all-rounder within the Pakistan squad. She has played well in both T20 matches so far and was instrumental in leading Pakistan to a win in the second match.

Nashra Sandhu: Nashra has been quite economical with her slow left-arm spin, troubling quite a few batters. She has picked up 11 wickets in the last 8 matches and bowled at an economy rate of just over 4.50.

Orla Prendergast: Prendergast is the mainstay of the Ireland team. She is solid with both, the bat as well as the ball, and plays especially well in the shortest format of the game.
