AUS vs WI Match Preview

Australia lost its most recent series against India but it gave a very tough fight even without four of its first-choice players being available. All of those players are available for selection for this series against the West Indies. Australia's biggest strength is its batting strength. There is a lot of depth, power, and raw six-hitting potential.

The bowling attack is well settled. With a number of all-rounders, Australia can pick its best four bowlers (Starc, Zampa, Hazelwood, and Cummins) and get the fifth bowler's quota from a combination of Maxwell, David, and Marsh.

West Indies is led by Nicholas Pooran and is coming into this series just after the CPL. That means performances from the CPL will be given a lot of importance and that is probably why Shamarh Brooks was picked as a replacement for Shimron Hetmyer.

The problem for the West Indies is likely to be getting its combination right, something the team has struggled with in the past, and also finding an effective bowling attack. Obed McCoy is the designated death bowler and Akeal Hosein is quite dependable but apart from that, all other bowlers can go for a lot of runs.

Weather Report

The conditions in Queensland are expected to be a bit humid but the chance of rain is quite low.

Pitch Report

The average score at the Carrara Oval since 2019 is 157 but we think a par score here would be more. Generally, spinners like Maxwell and Zampa have done well and the top order batters can make a big impact also.

There is no one that even comes close to Aaron Finch. For all his troubles in other formats, Finch has been able to score runs and has over 1800 runs since 2018.

Team News

Marcus Stoinis is still unavailable for selection and Shimron Hetmyer has literally missed the flight to joint he squad.

Dream11 Prediction

We think Australia is going to be tough to beat at home and has an excellent chance of winning. We are going to pack our team with the Aussies but also try to get some impact West Indian players in the lineup.

Top Picks

Brandon King - With an ownership percentage of just over 50%, King could be a differentiator. He was in spectacular form during the CPL and will play an important role here as well.

Glenn Maxwell - Maxwell (and Zampa) have done really well at this venue in the past. We also think Maxwell is due for a big score sooner, rather than later. Having him in the team is a no-brainer.

Odean Smith - The West Indian fast-bowler can go for runs but has a happy knack for picking up wickets. He is also destructive with the bat when he gets the chance.
