AUS vs ENG Match Preview

Marcus Stoinis and David Warner hit a half-century each in Australia's previous match.  They are in form with the bat and well worth getting into your Dream11 team. Warner should be in for a particularly big battle against England pace ace Mark Wood. Stoinis has value to add with the ball as well.

Stoinis is a world-class all-rounder in T20 cricket. He took three wickets against Oman, is full of confidence after hitting a record-breaking century in the Indian Premier League - and is primed for more success here. His variations and slower deliveries could do well in Barbados conditions.

Wood and fellow fast bowler Jofra Archer impressed for a brief period against Scotland. England's other bowlers were not at their best before rain had the final say. Wood is bowling with great pace and  Archer is looking solid enough after returning from a long-term injury.

Alongside or instead of Wood or Archer, consider Australia's pace stocks. Mitchell Starc is probably the best left-arm seamer at the tournament and highly motivated after winning the IPL title with the Kolkata Knight Riders recently. Josh Hazlewood has developed into a sound T20 cricketer and Nathan Ellis bowls really accurate and quick yorkers.

You don't have to limit yourself to a specialist spinner for your Dream11 team selection for this match. There are several spinning all-rounders to pick from. Will Jacks, Glenn Maxwell and Moeen Ali are among them. You could afford to pick all three, given their ability to weigh in with the bat and ball.

For your wicketkeeper-batter, there's Matthew Wade or Jos Buttler. Your team will need a captain, so picking Buttler for the dual role would make sense. But Wade is also a superb selection. He packs plenty of punch through the closing overs as one of the best finishers in world cricket.

Weather Report

Some rain is predicted in Bridgetown on matchday. This could affect the fixture. If the contest is shortened, the team to win the toss will be even more influenced to bowl first - and potentially chase an adjusted target later.

Pitch Report

The Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados will host this match. Four 2024 T20 World Cup matches have already been played at this venue. The pitch might be a bit lower and slower if an older strip is used. If a new strip is deployed, a first-innings total of 160-plus could still be competitive.

Notable stats

Salt in form

Salt was with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL - his franchise eventually won the tournament on the back of several key contributions from him. He hit successive centuries in T20I cricket in the Caribbean last year - 119 in Tarouba and 109 not out in St George's.

Team News

England are unlikely to make changes to their XI. Australia could stick with their same team, too, but might be tempted to play an extra specialist spinner - Ashton Agar is available.

Dream11 Prediction

Australia have a bit more momentum than England. This is going to be a big battle between two-time champions England and 2021 champions Australia in the T20 World Cup. Australia should win this match, though, given their superior bowling depth in particular.

Top Picks

Phil Salt: You simply cannot look past the in-form England opener. Name him in your Dream11 team selection and anticipate another top knock.

Marcus Stoinis: Based on his all-round performance against Oman, who are not necessarily strong opposition, the Australian talisman is in a good position to succeed with bat and ball against England as well.

David Warner: The Australian has plenty of experience winning big matches and has added motivation to succeed as he enters the twilight of his career.
