ADSW vs SYTW Match Preview

The Strikers were 4th on the points table in the last season but made a late surge to finish as the runners-up. This time too, they have been rather inconsistent in their performance, and are 3rd on the points table.

Katie Mack, Deandra Dottin, and Laura Wolvaardt have all played well throughout the season. However, it is Madeline Penna who has scored the most runs for the Strikers this season. Amanda Wellington and Megan Schutt have been good with the ball, and have received good support from the likes of Darcie Brown and Jemma Barsby.

The middle-order batters have failed miserably for the Sydney Thunders, as none of them have managed to score consistently. Amy Jones and Phoebe Litchfield have batted well at the top of the order, along with Rachael Haynes. Other than these three, none of the batters have managed to score.

Similarly, the bowling too has been mediocre at best.

Weather Report

While the temperature is expected to remain below 20 degrees, we can surely expect some showers, leading to delays.

Pitch Report

The pitch at Nuritoopa is flat, and great for batting due to its predictable bounce. The quicker bowlers will enjoy bowling here, but there is nothing much in here for the spinners. The average first innings score here is around 150.

Notable stats

Madeline Penna’s excellent average

Penna has always been a reliable player lower down the order. In the last 10 matches, she has scored 241 runs at an average of more than 80 runs.

Amanda Wellington’s superb bowling

Wellington is third on the list of the top wicket-takers in WBBL. In this season, she has already picked up 17 wickets, and her spell of 5/8 against Brisbane is the best in WBBL.

Team News

There are no reports of any injuries in either of the squads. We are therefore likely to see an unchanged eleven from both teams.

Dream11 Prediction

The Adelaide Strikers should win this one easily. In a player-to-player comparison, the Sydney Thunders team looks a distant second, as most of its players look out of form. The batting is over-reliant on the openers, and the middle order has failed to build up on the initial momentum. Meanwhile, the Adelaide Strikers have quite a few players who can easily change the game in their team’s favor.

Top Picks

Madeline Penna: As mentioned earlier, she can play consistently well lower down the order. She is third on the list of the highest run-getters this season, and can also bowl a bit.

Phoebe Litchfield: She is the only bright spot in an otherwise dull batting line-up of the Thunders. Litchfield already has 2 half-centuries against her name, and will likely play a big inning on the flat pitch at Nuritoopa.

Amanda Wellington: The young spinner from South Australia is in excellent form this season. The weak batting lineup of the Sydney Thunders will give her the perfect opportunity to better her tally of 17 wickets for the seasons.
