ADS vs HBH Match Preview

Chris Lynn played an excellent inning of 87 in the previous match to carry the Strikers to 177 but it proved to be quite insufficient in the end. He has been the best batter for the Strikers this season but it is clear to see, this is not the explosive Lynn of his prime. He can get quick runs but more often than not, his strike rate stays between the 130-150 mark at best.

Matt Short seems to have just tapered off after his excellent start and the rest of the batting has not quite performed. Adam Hose and Colin de Grandhomme have a few cameos but nothing more. There is also a clear lack of depth in the lineup.

The bowling attack for the Adelaide Strikers has been very effective on occasion but not having Thornton available to them in the previous match showed some shortcomings. Wes Agar and Rashid Khan were quite expensive and none of the other bowlers were able to get any measure of control over the Hurricanes.

The powerful Hurricanes' batting lineup is showing some good signs of form as almost all their major batters have scored some important runs. Ben McDermott, Darcy Short, Caleb Jewell, Matthew Wade, and Tim David are all powerful strikers that are backed up by Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, and Mitchell Owen.

In terms of batting strength and depth, the Hurricanes are far ahead of the Strikers.

The bowling unit has been led by Patrick Dooley. His mystery spin has been tough to pick for most of the players and the fast bowlers also seem to be hitting their stride. Rilee Meredith and Nathan Ellis will play a vital role in this match as well.

Weather Report

The conditions in Adelaide are expected to be perfect for cricket. Mild temperatures and no threat of rain.

Pitch Report

The pitch is a high-scoring one with short square boundaries that can be targetted. The big-hitting lineup of the Hobart Hurricanes will fancy itself at this venue for sure. We think the bowlers will struggle and a score of close to 170 could be seen as par.

Notable stats

Matthew Wade In Great Touch

Wade has hit 10 sixes in BBL 12 so far (the most for the Hurricanes) and also has the most runs in his team (177). As captain, he is batting at the [position where he expects the most success and that is clearly paying off.

Team News

No major injuries are reported from either team.

Dream11 Prediction

We are going to back the Hobart Hurricanes to win. They have a stronger batting lineup and seem to be hitting their form. With four losses in a row, the Adelaide Strikers are spiraling. The batting lineup of the Strikers is not convincing enough and is far too dependent on just one or two players.

Top Picks

Riley Meredith - He has gone a bit under the radar but he has the joint most wickets for the Hurricanes this season. We think he is an excellent differentiator.

Ben McDermott - He is still to really showcase his best but the signs are there that a big inning may be close by. He is destructive at his best and capable of getting a really big score.

Wes Agar - He may have had a poor outing in his previous match but in the absence of Thornton, is the leader of the Strikers' bowling attack. He has certainly shown enough quality to bounce back swiftly.
