SOM vs KENT Team Previews

Somerset

Somerset plays like a genuine team and it's not luck that they've made the top of the league. Although there are standout players, everyone seems to contribute to the roster.

Every batter seems to make an impact, but Smeed has developed into the team's top player. He had 66 and 78 runs in his previous two matches, but his total of 404 runs is a good indication of his batting level. Given Somerset's excellent batting options, Kohler-Cadmore (389) and Banton (328) as No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, gives Somerset a huge advantage.

With an astonishing 25 wickets and just 358 runs conceded (ER 8.69) in the league, fast bowler Ben Green is head and shoulders above the competition. It is clear that Somerset primarily depends on Green to win games, but he can handle such responsibility.

Additionally, there are several bowlers who can assist Green, though, including Henry (17/271) and Davey (13/207). With Sodhi on in the team to replace the injury to van der Merwe for some matches, Somerset should still be terrifying.

Somerset Playing 11

Tom Banton, Will Smeed, Tom Kohler Cadmore, Thomas Abell, Sean Dickson, Lewis Gregory, Ben Green, Craig Overton, Josh Davey, Matt Henry, Ish Sodhi.

Kent

It's nice to observe that virtually any of Kent's most prolific batsmen – Bell-Drummond (587 runs), Denly (365 runs), and Muyeye (283 runs ) – can carry the club on their own terms. The T20 Blast's top run scorer, Bell-Drummond, who is now unstoppable at the crease, deserves the majority of the credit for the victories. He recently recorded impressive results of 111, 69*, 38, and 56*.

Denly and Muyeye are going to be of great assistance to him in maintaining this level of play, and Kent is sure to pose a difficult challenge in the quarterfinals (if they reach it).

Stewart (20/347) and Hogan (21/399) are reliable in practically every game, which is not to be understated in this league and every team needs consistency. Hogan had a superb match recently versus Sussex (4/31).

Following these two bowlers, the bowling list gets a bit thinner, which may present issues later if there's too much pressure on Hogan and Stewart, but ideally Linde continues to develop, as he's been improving in recent matches.

Kent Playing 11

Tawanda Muyeye, Matt Quinn, Alex Blake, Jordan Cox, Sam Billings, Jack Leaning, George Linde, Grant Stewart, Joey Evison, Harry Finch, Michael Hogan.

SOM vs KENT Toss Prediction

According to prior games, the captain choosing to bat first has earned the victory in 34 of 62 contests, while the side batting second has only won 28 times Although the results are quite close, it's fair to assume that the side winning the toss would want to bat first in order to force a tense run-chase later on.

Pitch and Conditions

The County Ground in Taunton is renowned for being reasonably equal for bowlers and batsmen, although in recent times, spinners have excelled here more often. We may anticipate a high-scoring affair that might surpass Somerset's record score of 229 because the boundaries are a little smaller than usual.

SOM vs KENT Betting Tips

The matches have been very even in recent years between Somerset and Kent. Somerset won the last match, but it was only by 13 runs and the game was disrupted by rain. Kent won in 2022 by 32 runs, and with the fact that the Satbet odds will be favourable to Kent, we think they can win the match against Somerset.

Bell-Drummond will need to have the game of his life, while Hogan and Stewart will have a tough time against the Somerset batters, but this Kent team is just incredible lately and a dark horse contender.

Bet on Kent to win.

The odds are too low for Kohler-Cadmore, but Smeed has been on a scoring frenzy lately with 410 total runs, so we think he can be better than his Somerset teammates. He's had epic scores in the past few matches, with 78 versus Gloucestershire and 66 against Glamorgan.

A bet on Bell-Drummond is a good idea as he's batting perhaps the best of his career right now, but the odds are a bit more exciting for Denly. With 365 runs, Denly has been in the zone lately and is contributing a lot of big scores, including 76 versus Essex.

    Kent Top Bowler: Grant Stewart

Stewart has been the top bowler in Kent alongside Hogan, so the odds are actually really good at the moment. With 20 wickets and recent performances of 3/39 versus Middlesex, it's possible that Stewart will be the hero of this game.
