Sri Lanka will be very disappointed with the way it has played in the first two matches of this season. They have lost both of them and are placed at the bottom of the Group D table. It must now win both the remaining games to remain in the race for the knockouts.
Opener Pathum Nissanka played an excellent knock of 47 runs in the last game but received no support at the other end. Despite boasting of a strong batting line-up consisting of hard hitters like Kusal Mendis, Kamindu Mendis, and Charith Asalanka, Sri Lanka hasn’t been able to cross the 125-run mark in both its outings.
The failure of all-rounders to score runs in death overs has also hurt the team.
The bowlers, barring Nuwan Thushara and Wanindu Hasaranga haven’t fared much better either. Maheesh Theekshana is wicketless in 2 games, while Matheesha Pathirana and Dasun Shanaka have managed to pick up only 1 wicket each.

Nepal
Nepal was outclassed by the Netherlands in its opening fixture as it faced a crushing 6-wicket defeat. They must now bring out their A-game as they face a much more formidable opponent, at least on paper.
Barring the batting performance of skipper Rohit Paudel, there weren’t many positives for the team last week. Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh will have to give the team a brisk start and set the base for a big score. The middle order has some experienced players like Kushal Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee who will be joined by the newcomer Anil Sah, while all-rounders Sompal Kami, Karan KC, and Gulsan Jha add depth to the batting.
While Nepal has plenty of variety in the seam department like Abinash Bohara, Sompal Kami, and Karan KC, the team is sorely missing the services of its best spinner, Sandeep Lamichanne.
