RSA vs WI Match Prediction - Mar 28, 2023

West Indies will lock horns with South Africa for one final time on Tuesday as its tour to the African nation draws to an end.

It has been a rollercoaster ride for the visitors so far. They were whitewashed in the test series but managed to hold the hosts to a 1-1 draw in the ODIs. And now, with both teams winning one match each in the 3-match T20 series, a lot depends on this final game.

RSA vs WI Team Previews

South Africa

After a disappointing loss in the first match, the home team came back strongly in the last match to register a record win on Sunday.

The openers were in brilliant form as both, Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks went after the West Indies bowling right from the first ball of the chase. The pair put up 152 runs for the opening wicket in under 11 overs and will be looking to put up a similar performance here.

The team has strong middle order consisting of Rilee Rossouw, David Miller, Aiden Markram, and Heinrich Klaasen, while all-rounders Wayne Parnell and Marco Jansen add depth to the batting. The bowlers had an off day at the SuperSport Park and will be hoping to put up a better performance here.

Kagiso Rabada and Sisanda Magala were wicketless, while Marco Jansen and Wayne Parnell picked up 5 wickets between them. The home team, however, lacks a bite in their spin attack and Tabraiz Shamsi is the only full-time slow bowler on the team.

West Indies

While West Indies did lose the last match, they will carry a lot of positives from there as it was their best batting effort in a T20 international.

Johnson Charles was in a belligerent mood on Sunday as he registered a century in just 39 deliveries, which is the fastest by a West Indian and the joint second-fastest overall in T20 internationals. He put up a 135-run partnership with Kyle Mayers for the second wicket in under 10 overs to set up a strong base for his team.

Romario Shepherd provided the late flourish as he smoked 41 runs off just 18 deliveries to help West Indies post 258 runs, which is their highest-ever total in T20 internationals. However, that wasn’t nearly enough as a lack of discipline by the bowlers cost them dearly. West Indies tried as many as 7 different bowlers, but none of them managed to bowl at an economy rate of less than 10.5. The bowlers gave away as many as 11 extras, including 10 wides and no-ball, which proved to be one of the decisive factors in the match.

Skipper Rovman Powell will need his quicker bowlers to give him a good start with the ball in this match to put pressure on the hosts right from the word go.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg is flat and we can expect another run-fest here. The bounce is even and the ball comes on nicely onto the bat, providing the batsmen with ample opportunities to score. The outfield is quite quick too. The average first-inning score here is around 175. However, the team batting first will need to score close to 200 to feel safe.

The weather is expected to be pleasant with clear skies and temperatures below the 20-degree mark.

RSA vs WI Betting Tips

Looking at the way that both the teams performed in the last match, especially with the bat, this will be a difficult match to predict. However, we are backing the home team to win here. They have a strong batting line-up and the bowlers are at a bit of an advantage here as they are playing under home conditions.

The batsmen from both teams are in excellent form at the moment. The previous match saw both teams score a staggering total of 81 boundaries, which is the most for any T20 international match. With the pitch at the Wanderers Stadium being quite easy to bat on and a lightning-fast outfield, we expect to see plenty of boundaries getting scored here too.
