Punjab

Punjab was clinical in its performance during the group stage, losing just 1 of the 7 matches played. As a result, the team topped the Group C table to gain a direct entry to the quarterfinals.

The opening pair of Prabhsimran Singh and Abhishek Sharma has done an excellent job so far and are the top run-getters for the team. Abhishek Sharma has scored 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries in his last 6 innings and is in red-hot form.

In addition, Punjab has some talented batsmen in the middle order, including Ramandeep Singh and Anmolpreet Singh, both of whom are capable of playing a big inning.

Siddharth Kaul, who was the top wicket-taker of the tournament in the last edition, is once again bowling well and has picked up 11 wickets so far. The form of Baltej Singh and Arshdeep Singh however is a bit patchy. Mayank Markande and Harpreet Brar are very consistent in the spin department, picking up 22 wickets between them. 

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh finished 2nd on the Group E table and had to go through to the pre-quarterfinals, where it defeated Gujarat quite comfortably. However, Punjab will be a tougher team to face.

While there is so standout performer in the batting line-up, most of the batsmen in the top order have chipped in to help the team. Sameer Rizvi is the top-scorer with 235 runs, while Nitesh Rana, Rinku Singh, and Abhishek Goswami have played well so far.

The team will need at least one of them to play a big inning in this match. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar bowled a brilliant spell of 3 for 21 in the last match to limit Gujarat to a modest total. He is also the leading wicket-taker for UP with 14 wickets. Kumar will open the bowling along with Yash Dayal and Mohsin Khan.

The spinners however have struggled and will have to bowl a better line and length.
