NOT vs LAN Team Previews

Nottinghamshire

Nottingham is enduring a terrible start to its campaign as it has lost each of its first 4 games and is at the bottom of the North Group table. While there are still quite a few matches still to go, they will need to get back to winning ways soon if they want to remain in contention for the knockouts.

It has been a very poor performance, especially when it comes to the batting, and that has been one of the main reasons for the team’s failures. Joe Clarke and Tom Moores, who were among the top run-scorers for the team last year, have failed to get going this time around.

Similarly, quality batsmen like Alex Hales, Will Young, and Matthew Montgomery haven’t been able to put up a big score yet. Jack Haynes did score a half-century early in the season but has failed to back it up.

Coming to the bowling, Olly Stone has bowled well in patches to pick up 8 wickets but has been expensive at times. He will be joined by Ben Lister and Dillon Pennington in the pace attack, while Calvin Harrison will feature as the specialist spinner.

Lancashire

Unlike their opponents, Lancashire has played well this season and is sitting at the top of the points table by virtue of an excellent NRR. However, with teams like Northampton and Yorkshire close on its heels, there is no time to relax.

Luke Wells and Josh Bohannon will look to give the team a solid start. Wells is in particularly good form and has scored 154 runs so far, making him the top run-getter for his team. The middle order appears solid as well, thanks to some consistent batting from the likes of Matthew Hurst and Steven Croft.

Wells is also the joint-highest wicket-taker of his team with 6 wickets alongside fellow spinner Chris Green, who also adds depth to the batting. Luke Wood, Mitchell Stanley, and Jack Blatherwick make up for a formidable seam attack as they have picked up 11 wickets between them.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at Trent Bridge does favor the batsmen early on in the game. The surface is firm and offers a good amount of pace and bounce. While the ball does move around a bit when it hits the right spots, the batsmen will be able to play their shots.

A score of around 170 will be difficult to chase as the surface slows down in the second half and becomes a bit two-paced.

The weather is likely to remain overcast throughout the day with temperatures remaining under 15 degrees.

NOT vs LAN Betting Tips

We are backing Lancashire to win this match. The two teams are sitting poles apart in terms of performance as well as their position on the points table. Nottingham has struggled in all departments and we expect its woes to continue.

While Trent Bridge does offer a good surface to bat on, there is plenty on offer for the bowlers as well. As the batting from Nottingham hasn’t been the best, the two matches played here this season have both seen totals of less than 338 and we expect that trend to continue.

Olly Stone has bowled well in the last 3 games, picking up 8 wickets. He was the top bowler for his team in two of them and with such odds on offer, it is worth risking a wager on him.
