Madurai Panthers

After winning their opening match against the Salem Spartans, the Panthers faced a heavy defeat at the hands of Trichy. The loss not only cost them two points but also left a big dent in their NRR. As a result, they are placed 7th on the points table.

S Lokeshwar and Jagatheesan Kousik are the key batsmen for the team but they have been a bit inconsistent. Skipper Hari Nishanth played a decent knock in the previous match but didn’t receive much support at the other end. That said, the Madurai Panthers have plenty of depth in their batting thanks to players like NS Chaturved, Akram Khan, Swapnil Singh, and U Sasidev.

Murugan Ashwin too can play a handy role with the bat, as he showed in the first match. Ashwin is also the joint-highest wicket-taker for the team along with R Alexander, with both of them picking up 3 wickets each.

The seamers however have struggled in this season. While Kiran Akash and Kousik have remained wicketless, Gurjapneet Singh has managed to pick up only 1 wicket in 2 games. 

IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans

The Tiruppur Tamizhans have lost both their matches so far and are languishing at the bottom of the points table. While they still have 5 matches to play including this one, time is quickly running out for them.

While there have been some good individual performances from the Tiruppur players, they have failed to perform well as a team and that has cost them matches. Tushar Raheja is the leading run-scorer for them with 101 runs, while S Ganesh scored a half-century in the last match.

Mohamed Ali too has got a couple of good starts but is yet to produce a match-winning inning. The performance of Vijay Shankar and Amit Sathvik has been the most disappointing so far. The team will need at least one of them to bat till the end if they want to put up a big score.

Coming to the bowling, T Natarajan has bowled well in patches and has picked up 3 wickets. Mohamed Ali is the leading wicket-taker with 4 wickets. Ajith Ram has picked up 3 wickets as well but the team is missing the services of Sai Kishore, who is yet to play a match.
