LSG vs SRH Team Previews

Lucknow Super Giants

It has been an inconsistent start for the Lucknow Super Giants as after winning the opening match against the Delhi Capitals, they lost against CSK in a high-scoring encounter on Monday. Nevertheless, these are early days in the tournament and LSG still has plenty of time to recover.

KL Rahul hasn’t been in the best of forms at the top of the order and he will need to get some runs under his belt to regain some of the lost confidence. He has a good opening partner in the form of Kyle Mayers, who has scored half-centuries in both games so far.

The team will be looking for another explosive performance from him, especially during the Powerplay. It will be interesting to see how the Super Giants slot in Quinton de Kock, who is expected to join the team in this game. De Kock will likely replace Marcus Stoinis, who hasn’t had the best of times in the middle.

Nicolas Pooran has played well lower down the order but the form of Krunal Pandya remains a cause of concern. Mark Wood has been excellent with the new ball as he took a fifer in the opening match and followed it up with a 3 wicket haul against CSK.

He will be joined by Avesh Khan. Ravi Bishnoi has done well during the middle overs but lacks support at the other end as Krishnappa Gowtham and Yash Thakur have remained wicketless till now.

Lokesh Rahul, Kyle Mayers, Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Amit Mishra, Yash Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Ravi Bishnoi.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, who was leading the Sunrisers in the opening match in absence of Aiden Markram, will be pretty disappointed with the team’s performance as they faced a humiliating 72-run defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals.

Rahul Tripathi and Abhishek Sharma were sent back to the dugout in the very first over as the Sunrisers chased a mammoth target of 204 to win. Harry Brook, who was in red-hot form in the build-up to this season, failed to impress in his debut match, getting out for a paltry 13.

SRH lost 5 wickets inside the first 10 overs with just 48 runs on the board as they seemed to be headed for a disaster. However, some late resistance by Abdul Samad and Adil Rashid saved them the blushes and steered the team to a respectable total.

With Aiden Markram expected to be back in the team for this game, SRH will be looking for a stronger batting performance here. The team has a strong pace attack consisting of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, T Natarajan, and Umran Malik, and will be banking on them to put up a good show here.

However, the spin department does seem to be a bit lacking and both Adil Rashid and Washington Sundar aren’t in the best of forms.

LSG vs SRH Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss will be looking to bat first here.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium is a bit tricky to bat on and the batsmen will need to get their eye in before they start hitting the big shots. However, once they are set, they will be able to take on the bowlers and play some big shots. The pitch does tend to get a bit slower as the game progresses and anything over 170 will be difficult to chase here.

The weather is expected to be clear with temperatures between 25-30 degrees Celsius.

LSG vs SRH Betting Tips

While the Lucknow Super Giants did lose their previous match, we believe that they have a stronger squad when compared to their opponents. Kyle Mayers is in sublime form at the top of the order, while the likes of Nicholas Pooran add firepower at the end. The return of Quinton de Kock will only increase their chances of making a big total.

Bet on the Lucknow Super Giants to win.

Mark Wood has been in sensational form this season. He took a fifer in the opening game and followed it up with 3 wickets in the next match. With the pitch in Lucknow being well-balanced and rewarding for disciplined bowlers, we are backing Wood to bowl another good spell here.

The surface at the Ekana Stadium is well-balanced and provides ample opportunities to get wickets. The surface isn’t the easiest to bat on and we are likely to see plenty of wickets falling.

Rahul hasn’t been in the best of forms in the run-up to this season of the IPL. We do expect to see him getting a good start but it is unlikely that he will play a big inning here.
