India Women

Despite being one of the strongest teams in the white-ball format, the T20 World Cup remains elusive to the Women in Blue. Their high point came in the 2020 edition when they reached the finals, only to be defeated by Australia.

India has named a squad that is more or less similar to the one that was featured in the recent Asia Cup. The only exception is the omission of Uma Chetry, who has been replaced by Yastika Bhatia. However, the latter has been struggling with an injury and should hopefully be available for this match.

The batting unit has plenty of experience and talent with players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, and Deepti Sharma.

India will heavily rely on its spin trio of Radha Yadav, Deepti Sharma, and Shreyanka Patil to put pressure on the opposition.

The pitch at Dubai is expected to be dry and that makes the job of the spinners all the more important. The seam attack is likely to be made up of Pooja Vastrakar and Renuka Singh. 

New Zealand Women

New Zealand has failed to make it to the playoffs in each of the last 3 editions and will be hoping to put up a better performance this time around. The White Ferns have named a well-balanced squad for this edition, consisting of a mix of experienced and young players.

New Zealand's recent form isn’t inspiring as well, as they enter this contest on the back of a 10-match losing streak. A lot will depend on the performance of its senior players like Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, Suzie Bates, and Lea Tahuhu.

The team will need at least a couple of them to play well if they want to defeat a strong team like India. They will also need good support from younger players like Georgia Plimmer, Isabella Gaze, and Maddy Green.

Rosemary Mair makes a comeback to the squad and will bolster the seam attack alongside Jess Kerr, Molly Penfold, and Hannah Rowe, while the spin attack consists of Leigh Kasperek, Fran Jonas, and Eden Carson.
