GLO vs KENT Match Prediction - Jun 17, 2023

It remains to be seen whether Kent or Gloucestershire has a chance of reaching the knockout round, as neither is having the best season in 2023. Kent is 7th in the South Group (2-5), while Gloucestershire is 6th (3-4). If there is a late-season surge, then this is the game to win for both squads.

This Kent vs. Gloucestershire matchup will take place at the County Ground, Bristol, on June 17th. These betting sites will always give you the best odds.

GLO vs KENT Team Previews

Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire is proving a hard team to predict, as their season is so up-and-down, with rarely any winning or losing streaks. This does keep opponents on their toes, but is difficult to bet on them!

Charlesworth is rapidly becoming the team’s best batter with 185 runs so far, and even though he’s yet to reach more than 56 runs in one innings, he’s at least helping the team challenge for wins. Hammond’s 169 is much-needed, as he was in a batting slump before hitting 34 & 61, but we hope Price can turn into a standout talent, as he’s got 134 runs but is incredibly young at 22 years old.

Price is not just decent with the bat, either, as here’s an up-and-coming spinner who can deliver on the big stage. He’s got 10/114 so far, and has had a great effort of 3/21 this season. Likewise, Payne is turning into a real star bowler with 10/171, but there’s a lot of pressure on these two players.

Kent

Kent may have lost four games in a row, but at least they ended the break with a massive victory over reigning champions, Hampshire. This was quite the shock, but thanks to great bowling from Stewart and Klaasen (two wickets each) and an epic 89 runs from 55 deliveries from Bell-Drummond, Kent proved that this is a team to take seriously.

It always helps when you have a star batter like Daniel Bell-Drummond (247 runs) in the squad, as here’s a player you can simply rely on to score well. He’s been quite consistent for a while, always hovering around 20 runs each game, but the 89 against Hampshire in a must-win game really displayed his batting prowess.

Denly (175) and Muyeye (173) have been chipping in well enough, but you’d like a bit more effort from Cox, who has only made 118 runs in seven innings. We’re seeing far too many ducks or scores below 10 for Cox, and Kent will need him in this last stretch of games.

Fast bowler Stewart (12/218) is clearly irreplaceable for Kent, as he’s simply getting the job done and has had two wickets in four of his last five matches. Along with Hogan (11/226), Stewart is at least helping Kent to stay in fighting range in every match. We’re still unimpressed by Richardson’s 5/192 effort, as that ER of 10.97 is just allowing too many easy runs.

GLO vs KENT Toss Prediction

Teams generally prefer to chase at this ground, as the team batting second has won 27 out of 44 times for T20 games. Any captain would be wise to bowl first if winning the toss.

Pitch and Conditions

The County Ground is perfect for batting, as the batters get a good line even if the new ball is used. The surface seems to work out better in the second innings, especially in night matches.

GLO vs KENT Betting Tips

Kent easily won the first matchup this season by 7 wickets (39 balls remaining), but can they do it again? We certainly think so, as they appear to have a slight edge over Gloucestershire right now, thanks largely to Bell-Drummond and Stewart. It’ll likely be a closer game this time, but we still expect Kent to be the better team, especially after their statement victory over Hampshire.

The Satbet odds aren’t spectacular, but we trust Kent far more for this game.

The odds are quite amazing for this, and it's worth a try. It's a fast outfield here at the County Ground, and if a batter is able to predict the line well enough and make use of the quickness, then 3 runs is totally possible.

Although Kent's Stewart is perhaps the best bowler in the game, there's also a case to be made for Gloucestershire's Price. He's a really talented spinner who can surprise opposing batters if they're not careful. His 3/21 this season is proof that he's capable of big matches, and he's already earned 10 wickets so far.

Bell-Drummond has been outstanding lately, as he shocked the T20 League with 89 against Hampshire and picked up the win as well. He's already got 247 runs, and even though he started out slow this season, he's been gaining momentum at the right time and should get better before the knockout round starts. He can make another big score today.
