AUS vs WI Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 25, 2024
Australia won the first Test against the West Indies convincingly and we expect very much the same thing to happen in this match as well. Shamar Joseph was perhaps the only reason why the Australians had a semblance of a challenge for some sessions in the match but eventually, it was all a bit too easy.
Let us have a look to see what we can expect for the second test.
AUS vs WI Team Previews
Australia
Australia was never really in any danger of losing the first Test and they ended up winning by 10 wickets. The standout performers from the first Test included Pat Cummins, Josh Hazelwood, and Travis Head. While Cummins and Hazelwood ran through the West Indian lineup, Head scored a century at a time when Australia had lost crucial wickets.
That resilience in the Australian lineup is one of the reasons why they are so tough to beat. Any one of their players could provide a defining performance in this next match. Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc..the list goes on.
We believe Australia could pick any 11 out of their squad and play them in random positions without seriously being challenged by the West Indies.
With a Day-Night Test to look forward to, the Australian bowlers are the ones to bet on in this match as the batters may simply not have much to do.
Australia Playing 11
Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
West Indies
West Indies won a few hearts with its bowling performance but its batting was woeful. Kirk McKenzie and Justin Graves were the only batters that seemed capable of withstanding the Australian batting lineup in the previous match. Will the batting performance change against the pink ball and under lights? We do not think so.
We advise betting against every single West Indian batter wherever possible. You will most likely make a healthy profit.
The West Indian bowling is a bit better and there are some exponents of swing (something expected with the Pink ball) that could bring them in the game. Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph, and Shamar Joseph will have to do something remarkable to even give their team a sniff.
It would take a very brave man to bet on the West Indies. A much braver (and foolhardy) bettor than us.
West Indies Playing 11
Kraigg Brathwaite, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Kirk McKenzie, Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge, Justin Greaves, Joshua Da Silva, Kevin Sinclair, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Kemar Roach.
AUS vs WI Toss Prediction
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions
The conditions in Brisbane are expected to be good for cricket. There is a bit of rain around and we could have some interruptions but overall, there is no real risk of too much time being taken out of the game. As far as the pitch goes, expect some pace and bounce at the Gabba.
There is also likely to be some swing once the lights come on. The batters may struggle and with the West Indian lineup so brittle, the match may be pretty low-scoring.
AUS vs WI Betting Tips
There is only one real pick here, low as the odds may be. Australia will win this match 99 times out of a hundred so lock in whatever pre-match odds you are getting. Australia's superior bowling attack will ensure that any batting hiccups (if they occur) and compensated for.
Bet on Australia to win.
Bonus Cricket Bets
Opening the batting against the pink ball is not easy and we think the Over/Under line is a bit too high. Smith is new to the job and up against some decent West Indian bowlers. We are happy to bet against him in such a situation.
Hazelwood has been unstoppable with the ball and his record with the pink ball is just staggering. We are betting on form here and hoping that he continues to run through the West Indian lineup.
