Afghanistan

After putting up a spirited campaign in the 2023 ODI World Cup, Afghanistan will look to do the same in the shortest format.

The team will be led by an indomitable Rashid Khan, who will play an important role on the dry pitches in the Caribbean. Supporting him will be Noor Ahmad and Mujeeb Ur Rahman while the pace attack is likely to feature Naveen Ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi.

This is a world-class bowling attack on all kinds of surfaces but especially ones where spin is likely to dominate. Rashid, Noor, and Mujeeb will test each and every batter that they come up against in this World Cup. We have no doubt that they will be licking their lips in anticipation before coming up against the Uganda batters.

Afghanistan's biggest strength lies in its all-rounders. Karim Janat, Mohammad Nabi, and Azmatullah Omarzai can come in handy with the bat as well as the ball. This gives them a lot of flexibility and depth in their lineup. Of course, the weak link in this Afghan team is the batting.

Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are likely to open the proceedings with the bat and give the team a brisk start. This is where the bulk of their runs have to come from. If Afghanistan loses its openers early, the rest of the batting can fall apart. 

Uganda

Uganda put up a spirited performance during the Regional qualifiers for Africa, beating favorites like Zimbabwe to qualify for their first-ever senior World Cup event.

However, they will have to play out of their skins to find success at the biggest stage of them all, the T20 World Cup.

Much will depend on the performance of top order trio of Riazat Ali Shah, Ronak Patel, and Simon Ssezai. They played a crucial role in helping Uganda reach the finals of the qualifiers. Will they be able to adapt against the world-class spin threat that Afghanistan throws at them?

We don't think so.

Uganda has a couple of decent all-rounders in the form of Dinesh Nakrani and Alpesh Ramjani who add depth to the batting. The duo is also amongst the top 3 wicket-takers for Uganda in T20I. Bilal Hassan, Cosmas Kyewuta, and Juma Miyagi will feature in the pace department, while Henry Ssenyondo and  Frank Nsubuga will join skipper Brian Masaba in the spin department. 

Uganda has been quite spirited in its approach to the T20 format and while we expect them to give it their all, we don't think they are going to come close to challenging Afghanistan. From a betting point of view, the underdog is just a world apart from the favorite to even consider betting on the upset.
