ADSW vs SYDW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Nov 03, 2023

This should have been one of the most exciting matchups of the WBBL season, as these were the two teams from last year’s Final. The eventual champions, the Strikers, have looked fantastic so far with a 3-2 record, but Sydney has been floundering with a terrible 1-4 record.

Adelaide Strikers Women vs. Sydney Sixers Women will take place at the WACA, Perth, on November 3rd. Keep track of all the latest cricket betting tips here.

ADSW vs SYDW Team Previews

Adelaide Strikers Women

Apart from two surprise losses to the Renegades and Hurricanes, the Strikers have certainly looked like the same powerful team from last season. It’s still going to take a bit of effort to reach the Heat and No. 1, but it’s certainly possible with this squad.

Weirdly, a massive recent win against the Heat was not at the hands of top batters, as Mack (2 runs) and Wolvaardt (8 runs) barely did anything. Instead, the team got big contributions from Patterson (70 runs) and Penna (36 runs).

There’s no need to worry about Mack just yet, as she’s looking good with a total of 171 runs (34.20 average). Wolvaardt’s 106 is some concern, as she’s usually scoring much quicker, but Patterson’s emergence with 110 is just at the right time.

Adelaide is doing a great job with bowling, as they are really preventing easy runs and still taking wickets, with Schutt especially good right now (9/102 and 6.37 ER). Wellington is solid with 7/73 and Mushangwe has 5 wickets, although we still don’t get why McGrath has only bowled 6.3 overs.

Katie Mack, Laura Wolvaardt, Tahlia McGrath, Bridget Patterson, Danielle Gibson, Georgia Adams, Annie O'Neil, Amanda Jade Wellington, Jemma Barsby, Megan Schutt, Anesu Mushangwe.

Sydney Sixers Women

The major injury to Alyssa Healy shouldn’t have affected the Sixers this badly, as there’s so much talent on that team. Despite Healy being ruled out for the entire season, many players from the squad that finished last season with an 11-2 record and went to the Final are still there.

Several batters are struggling to find runs, and these are players that are normally reliable. Bates (42 runs) and Burns (37 runs) are all far below what we expected and haven’t made any impact in 5 games. Tryon has shown glimpses (124 runs) and Gardner is wildly inconsistent but has 122 runs. Perry is the only one to show some potential with 190 runs and a 47.25 average.

The bowling has been fine at times, but it’s still not attacking enough. Even in the victory over the Renegades, it was only by 6 runs and could have gone either way. Gardner’s 10 wickets is on target, but allowing 147 runs is too much (7.73 ER). Cheatle is even worse with 9/170 behind her.

ADSW vs SYDW Toss Prediction

In terms of the stats, the pitch is reasonably even, but in the most recent T20 era, 17 teams have triumphed while batting second, compared to 12 when batting first in WBBL cricket. Bowling first looks like a good option for any captain winning the toss.

Pitch and Conditions

Many consider the WACA surface to be extremely fast and bouncy, with a speedy outfield that's ideal for easy singles. Although pace bowlers frequently succeed here, batters looking to find the boundary may make excellent use of the ball's speed and pick up several fours. It will be a hot day of around 35°C, so the pitch should crack and dry up even more.

ADSW vs SYDW Betting Tips

It’s certainly tempting to place a bet on the Sixers due to the very high Mostbet odds. Still, it’s a risky bet because of the poor form that Sydney has displayed recently. A very small bet on Sydney wouldn’t be the worst idea, but we’d still recommend going with Adelaide. The Strikers are looking stronger than ever and remain the best team to pick up the WBBL title again.

The Strikers bowlers will need to be extra careful about Perry at the crease, but otherwise, there’s little concern. Adelaide has superior firepower with Mack and Patterson batting, and we’ve seen great bowling all season from Schutt and Wellington. It might be too late to make a turnaround, as only the top four teams make the playoffs, and the Sixers are stuck at the bottom of the table.

Bet on the Adelaide Strikers to win.

It's hard to argue with Mack and Wolvaardt as the opening pair, as they've made 135 runs together so far. Conversely, Perry and Bates have combined for only 52 runs. Mack and Wolvaardt are due for a big scoring match, as their last was very low scoring.

Although we have to think that Schutt and Wellington are better bowlers on the team, the odds aren't too interesting right now. Mushangwe has very exciting odds and she's been bowling well with 5/108. We think she's worth a try and can make havoc on the Sixers batters.

Mack's last match was terrible with 2 runs, but she rarely has two bad games. She's the fourth-best WBBL scorer with 171 runs, and has made as much as 86 runs. Making 19.5 should be easy enough and a safe bet.
