Since Shreyas had performed exceptionally high in domestic cricket, he was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils (DD) at an astronomical cost of 2.6 Crores against a base price of 10 Lakhs for the 2015 IPL edition.
Nonetheless, in 2016, he had some difficulties and managed just 30 runs. He bounced back in 2017, scoring 336 runs with a top score 96. In 2020, Shreyas Iyer scored 519 runs in 17 innings, helping the DC team reach their first final in the IPL.
He missed out on this game during his 2021 shoulder injury last March in the IPL, only for Rishabh Pant to take up the mantle. On his comeback during the second half played in UAE, he only managed 175 runs from 8 matches.

Shreyas Iyer was born in Chembur, Bombay, on December 6, 1994. He is Tamilian, his father is Santosh Iyer, and his mother is a Tuluva called Rohini Iyer. Therefore, his lineage originates in Thrissur, Kerala.
He attended Don Bosco High School at Matunga and joined Ramniranjan Anandilal Podar College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. Pravin Amre first saw Iyer when he was eighteen at Shivaji Park Gymkhana.
