The Melbourne Stars have a strong opening pair in the form of Meg Lanning and Ines Mckeon. The duo put up a partnership of at least 33 runs in the 2 games and appeared to be in fine touch. We are therefore backing them to give the team another good start here.
Heather Graham is among the leading wicket-takers of the tournament with 6 wickets. She has picked up at least 2 wickets in 2 of her last 3 games. She also has an excellent record against Melbourne Stars and has picked up 21 wickets in 16 matches against them.
Hobart Hurricanes W to win 1.75
The Melbourne Stars will look to build up on its winning momentum as it hosts the Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing WBBL. The match will be played at the Junction Oval on Sunday.
The two teams have played 18 matches against each other to date. The Hobart Hurricanes have a better record with 12 wins, while the Stars won 6.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App. One can also watch this match live on the Star Sports Network.
After losing its opening game, the Melbourne Stars bounced back on Friday by defeating Sydney Sixers in a rain-curtailed match.
Yastika Bhatia, who joined the squad after her international stint, joined Ines McKeon at the top of the order and gave the team a strong start. The middle order has a couple of experienced batters in the form of Meg Lanning and Rhys McKenna, both of whom were in fine form in the previous game, scoring individual half-centuries and putting up a 104-run partnership.
Melbourne has some excellent all-rounders as well. Marizanne Kapp, Annabel Sutherland, and Tess Flintoff. The trio can hit some lofty shots and are also effective seam bowlers. They will be joined by Kim Garth, who will start the attack with the new ball.
The spin attack will be led by Sophie Day and Sasha Moloney.
The Hobart Hurricanes are coming into this contest on the back of a thumping win over Brisbane Heat. As a result, they now have 4 points against their name and are placed in the top half of the points table.
Danielle Wyatt-Hodge looked in excellent form on Saturday as she scored a quick-fire half-century. She will open the batting along with Lizelle Lee. Elyse Villani has got good starts in all the 3 games but is yet to convert them into big knocks. Hobart’s biggest strength comes from their two all-rounders, Heather Graham and Nicola Carey.
The duo has picked up 10 wickets between them and has also scored 133 runs between them. They will be supported by Kathryn Bryce in the seam department. Molly Strano and Chloe Tryon are the two full-time spinners on the team but they have enjoyed limited success till now.
The winner of the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at the Junction Oval usually helps the bowlers. There is an even covering of grass on the surface, helping the seamers generate swing as well as movement off the seam. The average first-inning score here is around 130. The pitch also gets slower as the match progresses and the spinners will come into action.
The weather is likely to be bright and clear with temperatures of around 20 degrees.
Both teams have been a bit inconsistent so far and there is no clear favorite to win. However, looking at the records, we feel that Hobart Hurricanes have a slight edge here, thanks to a stronger batting unit and a well-balanced bowling attack.
Bet on the Hobart Hurricanes W to win.
