Heather Graham is the leading wicket-taker for Hobart l, having 12 wickets. She has picked up at least 2 wickets in 4 of her last 6 outings. As the pitch at Hobart helps the bowlers, we are backing her to bowl a good spell.
Barring a half-century, Wyatt-Hodge hasn’t been in the best of forms and has failed to cross the 20-run mark in 4 of her last 6 innings. Given the nature of the pitch, she may find it difficult to get going.
The Adelaide Strikers will fight for survival as they face the Hobart Hurricanes in match number 25 of the ongoing WBBL. The match will be played at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Wednesday.
The two teams have faced each other in 17 matches to date. The Strikers are pretty dominant with 12 wins compared to 5 for Hobart.
Indian cricket fans can enjoy this contest live on TV through Star Sports channels. This game will also be available through live streaming on the Disney+Hotstar website and app.
The Hobart Hurricanes have been rather inconsistent this season. With 3 wins and 3 losses in 6 games, they have 6 points against their name. While they are currently placed 3rd on the table, they need to win here if they want to improve their chances of qualification.
Lizelle Lee played a brilliant knock of 150 runs in the previous game, which is the highest individual score in the history of WBBL. She will once again play a key role in the opening slot. Her opening partner, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge has played a couple of good knocks as well.
Elyse Villani and Nicola Carey add weight to the middle order while all-rounders Heather Graham and Chloe Tryon provide depth. Graham has bowled well to pick up 12 wickets and is the leading wicket-taker for her team. She will be joined by Kathryn Bryce and Callie Wilson in the pace attack.
Molly Strano and Amy Smith are the two specialist spinners.
The defending champions of this season have appeared to be a shadow of what they were last time around. The Adelaide Strikers have lost 5 of their 6 matches. Another loss here will mean that they will be eliminated from the race to the playoffs.
Tahlia McGrath is the top batter for the team so far with 194 runs. She has scored a couple of half-centuries and will play an important role in the middle order. The opening pair of Katie Mack and Smriti Mandhana will have to give the Strikers a strong start if the team wants to put up a big total.
With batters like Laura Wolvaardt and Bridget Patterson playing for them, there is plenty of talent in the Strikers’ team but that hasn’t translated into on-field performance. Bowling is one of the team’s biggest weaknesses.
Despite having 3 of the best seamers in the form of Darcie Brown, Megan Schutt, and Orla Prendergast, they have managed to pick up only 18 wickets among themselves. The spin attack consists of Madeline Penna, Amanda-Jade Wellington, and Jemma Barsby.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at the Bellerive Oval is well-balanced. The ball comes nicely into the bat early in the game and the average first-inning score here is around 150. There is an even covering of grass that helps the quicker bowlers get some movement off the seam.
In the second half, the pitch becomes a bit two-paced, making things difficult for the batting side. Bowlers who can vary their pace will enjoy plenty of success.
The weather will remain overcast with temperatures of under 18 degrees.
Despite being inconsistent, the Hobart Hurricanes have played much better than the Adelaide Strikers this season. The latter have struggled on all fronts and will find it difficult to bounce back.
