Jos Buttler and Phil Salt have played well in the last couple of games and have scored at an average of close to 57 as a pair. On the other hand, Hendricks and de Kock are averaging only 36.61.
The pitch at Gros Islet is excellent to bat on. The hard surface allows the batsmen to play their shots, while the quick outfield allows the ball to race to the fence. With both teams having some aggressive batting, we are expecting plenty of boundaries.
South Africa will be looking to extend its winning streak in the ongoing T20 World Cup as it faces the defending champions, England, on Friday. The match will be played at the Daren Sammy Stadium in Gros Islet.
Both teams are evenly matched in terms of past head-to-head contests. Out of the 25 such matches, both teams have won 12 each, while 1 match was abandoned.
This match will be broadcast live on the Star Sports Network. One can also stream it on Disney+ Hotstar App.
After a sedate performance in the initial stage, England began its Super 8 campaign in style by defeating hosts West Indies quite comfortably on Wednesday.
Phil Salt and Jos Buttler got the team off to a strong start and the same will be expected from them in this match as well. Salt went on to score an unbeaten 87 runs and is now the leading run-getter for the team in this tournament. The strength of its top order as well as the ability to attack in all conditions is what makes England a top class team.
The team will be relieved to see the likes of Johnny Bairstow and Buttler get some runs under their belt. However, the form of the middle-order batsmen still remains a cause of concern for the team. Liam Livingstone and Moeen Ali are the two other batters that can be deadly dangerous on a good batting wicket.
Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid are the top performers with the ball, picking up 6 wickets each. But the other bowlers will need to bowl a better line and length as they have been a bit expensive. Sam Curran has looked off-color in the tournament so far and may be targetted by the South African batters.
South Africa has played well this season. While they did have some close shaves, the team is undefeated in this tournament, with the latest winning coming against the USA.
While Reeza Hendricks isn’t in the best of forms at the top of the order, the fans will be delighted with the way Quinton de Kock batted in the last match, scoring 74 of just 40 deliveries. There is plenty of firepower in the middle order thanks to the presence of David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, and Tristan Stubbs, while Aiden Markram and Marco Jansen are two quality all-rounders.
There is no batting order stronger or more capable of hitting sixes than South Africa's. They would be very happy to be finally at a venue where this batting prowess can be displayed to its fullest.
The seamers have done a good job so far for South Africa, with Anrich Nortje leading the pack with 10 wickets. He will be joined by Kagiso Rabada and Jansen, while Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi are the two full-time spinners on the team
Nortje has been able to get away with some ordinary line and length thanks to his sheer pace. That will not be the case against England and we think he might end up being quite expensive.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The Daren Sammy Stadium is one of the better venues for the batsmen in this tournament. The average first-inning score here this year is close to 200, and that will be considered a par score. The wicket is flat, with an even covering of grass. There are a few cracks that tend to open up as the match progresses, helping the spinners.
The weather is likely to be warm and humid with temperatures of over 30 degrees.
With both teams coming in on the back of a win, they will be feeling confident and we can expect a close contest. We feel that South Africa has a slight edge, thanks to its stronger bowling and also better-performing all-rounders.
Bet on South Africa to win.
