Towhid Hridoy is in good form of late. He has been the top batsman for Bangladesh in both the games in this tournament. With the kind of odds that are being offered, backing Hridoy is a no-brainer.
The bowlers will get plenty of help on this ground. The stadium has hosted 2 international T20s and both of them have seen at least 15 wickets fall. As the batting from both sides hasn’t been the best, we are expecting a similar outcome.
Bangladesh will be looking to bounce back in the ongoing T20 World Cup as it faces the Netherlands in a Group D fixture. The two teams will face off at the Arnos Vale Ground in St. Vincent on Thursday.
The two teams have faced each other in 4 matches to date. Bangladesh is the dominant side with 3 wins, while the Netherlands has won only once.
This match can be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App or can be watched live on the Star Sports Network.
Bangladesh scored an impressive win over Sri Lanka in its opening fixture but wasn’t able to overcome South Africa. With only one qualification spot available in Group D, the Tigers will be hopeful of improving their chances by scoring a big win here.
The opening pair hasn’t been in the best of forms and has put up single-digit partnerships in both matches so far. This has put added pressure on the middle order and has led to low scores for the team. Barring Towhid Hridoy, none of the batsmen have been able to impress.
Also, despite having a couple of all-rounders in the form of Shakib Al-Hasan and Mahmudullah, Bangladesh has a long tail. The bowlers have fared comparatively better.
The seam attack consisting of Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, and Mustafizur Rahman has picked up 11 wickets between them, while Rishad Hossain has 4 against his name.
Just like Bangladesh, the Netherlands is coming into this contest on the back of a loss against the Proteas and will be eager to bounce back.
Much will depend on the opening pair of Max ODowd and Michael Levitt. Both of them are known to be clean strikers of the ball and if one of them gets going, the Netherlands can post a big total. The middle order has some solid players too like Sybrand Engelbrecht, Scott Edwards, and Bas de Leede.
However, they haven’t been able to make much of an impact with the bat. Logan van Beek has bowled brilliantly to pick up 5 wickets in 2 games.
He will be supported by Vivian Kingma and Paul van Meekeren in the pace department while Tim Pringle will lead the spin attack.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at the Arnos Vale Stadium is on the slower side and the batsmen will have to earn their runs. The surface is dry with plenty of cracks that the bowlers can exploit. The spinners will enjoy bowling here. Anything over 150 will be difficult to chase.
The weather is likely to be warm and humid with temperatures of over 30 degrees.
Both teams have been a bit inconsistent this season but there are undoubtedly some bright spots. We feel that given their better experience, Bangladesh has a slightly better chance here. That said, one can never write off the Netherlands.
Bet on Bangladesh to win.
