Australia has an explosive batting line-up. As it faces an inexperienced bowling unit of Oman, we are bound to see a couple of big overs.
Mitchell Starc is in brilliant form with the ball. He has picked up 5 wickets in his last 2 IPL matches. As the pitch at Barbados is very helpful to the quicker bowlers, we are backing Starc to bowl a good spell.
Australia will kick off its T20 World Cup campaign on Thursday as it faces Oman in a Group B fixture. The match will be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
This is the first time that both teams will be facing each other in a T20 international.
This match can be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App or can be watched live on the Star Sports Network.
The 2021 Champions didn’t have the best of outings during the last season and failed to make it to the knockout. However, coming off its success in the ODI World, the Aussies will look to extend their domination to the shortest format as well.
Australia has named a strong squad for this tournament, retaining most of its core team from the ODI World Cup. The likes of David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins have plenty of experience playing on the big stage.
Travis Head is likely to join David Warner at the top of the order, with skipper Mitchell Marsh coming in at number 3. There are plenty of all-rounders in the squad like Tim David, Cameron Green, and Marcus Stoinis, and that will allow Australia plenty of flexibility in the selection of playing eleven.
Starc and Josh Hazlewood are likely to begin the attack with the new ball, while Adam Zampa is likely to play as the specialist spinner. Having the quality of Pat Cummins as the first change bowler is a luxury that few teams have.
It is obvious but there is no comparison between the Australian team and the one from Oman.
Oman will be heartbroken with the result of their opening fixture. The team played extremely well to hold Namibia to a tie but were eventually defeated in the Super Over.
However, as the team faces a formidable opponent, they will have to play out of their skin to win this one. The team will rely on its experienced core of Aqib Ilyas, Kashyap Prajapati, Zeeshan Maqsood, Ayaan Khan, and Bilal Khan to deliver the goods.
Khalid Kail got a good start in the last match but was unable to convert it into a big inning. The seam attack, led by Mehran Khan, will look to keep the Australian top order under a tight leash during the Powerplay. Khan picked up 3 wickets and was the top bowler for his team.
The spin attack consists of Shakeel Ahmed, Aqib Ilyas, and Ayaan Khan.
Oman is only going to have a chance if the surface is slow and its bowlers are able to tie down the Australian batters. Even on a low scoring surface, though, Oman's batters will really have to come up with something special to be able to score runs against the formidable Australian bowling unit.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the Kensington Oval is on the dry side. There is dry grass on the surface and also some cracks. The ball will nip around if the seamers hit the right areas. The batsmen will need to settle down before they can start playing the big shots.
The pitch will also slow down as the match progresses. A score of over 150 will be challenging to chase.
There will be some clouds in the sky and the temperature will remain around 30 degrees.
Australia is the overwhelming favorite to win according to most betting sites and we see no point in wagering against them. The best way to find value is to look for parlays (available on Parimatch) or for markets other than match winner.
Bet on Australia to win.
