Priyansh Arya to score Over 21.5 runs
Priyansh Arya has been in good form this season and has an average of 35.88 in 9 innings. He has scored at least 22 runs in 6 of his last 7 innings, including a century and a half-century. He scored 103 runs in his previous match against CSK and we are expecting another good knock from him.
Noor Ahmad to pick up Over 1.5 wickets
Noor Ahmad is the leading wicket-taker for CSK this year and has picked up 14 wickets so far. He has picked up 12 wickets in his 6 matches at this venue and has picked up at least 2 wickets in 3 of his last 5 matches here. Since the pitch here is expected to help the bowlers, Noor Ahmad could bowl a good spell in this match.
The Chennai Super Kings will be fighting for survival as they host the Punjab Kings for a mid-week clash on Wednesday. The two teams will fight it out at the Chepauk Stadium in an evening game.

The Chennai Super Kings seem to be caught in a never-ending downward spiral as they suffered their 7th loss in the last 8 games on Friday. They remain at the bottom of the points table with the worst NRR among all teams. With only 5 more matches to go for them, CSK need to win each one of them and even then, they may not make it to the playoffs.
The mega auction before the start of this season seems to have struck havoc on the team’s balance as they are struggling on all fronts. The team has experimented with quite a few opening pairs but hasn’t been able to get a good start in most matches. In the absence of regular opener Devon Conway, Shaik Rasheed is likely to continue in the opening role along with Ayush Mhatre.
The latter has shown potential but needs to convert his starts into big knocks. The middle order has proved to be the Achilles heel for CSK this season. With the likes of Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, and MS Dhoni struggling, the team has often failed to keep up with the asking rate during the middle overs. Shivam Dube is the only consistent performer here and the team will bank on Dewald Brevis to support him.
The bowlers, except Noor Ahmad and Khaleel Ahmed have struggled as well. Matheesha Pathirana hasn’t been able to control his line and length and has gone for over 10 runs per over. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are far from their peak form and have been unable to pick up wickets during the middle overs. CSK need to come up with something special if they want to win this match.
Chennai Super Kings Expected Playing 11
Shaik Rasheed, Ayush Mhatre, Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, Dewald Brevis, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, Matheesha Pathirana
The Punjab Kings’ latest match against KKR was called off on Saturday, allowing both teams to share points. As a result, PBKS has moved to the 4th place on the points table. However, with the Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants breathing down its neck, Punjab cannot be complacent and will need to win this match to further consolidate its position.
Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh make up a strong opening pair for the Punjab Kings. They have consistently given the team some good starts and will look to do the same in this match as well. Priyansh Arya is in particularly good form and is the leading run-scorer for his team.
Nehal Wadhera and Shreyas Iyer are pretty solid in the middle order, while Shashank Singh has played a couple of good cameos lower down the order. However, the team will expect a better performance from Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis, both of whom are averaging under 20 runs per inning.
In the bowling department, Arshdeep Singh is the leading wicket-taker for PBKS with 11 wickets and will be joined by Marco Jansen and Azmatullah Omarzai in the seam department. Yuzvendra Chahal has bowled a couple of good spells and has 9 wickets against his name.
Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer (C), Josh Inglis (WK), Shashank Singh, Glenn Maxwell, Azmatullah Omarzai, Yuzvendra Chahal, Marco Jansen, Arshdeep Singh, Nehal Wadhera
6 of the last 10 matches played here have been won while chasing. In 7 of those games, the team winning the toss opted to field first and we expect that trend to continue.
The pitch at the Chidambaram Stadium has been balanced this year and has allowed some exciting contests between the bat and the ball. The average first-inning score here is around 159 runs. However, the team batting first will look to score at least 180 runs as the surface gets slightly better to bat on during the second half.
The pitch is likely to be on the dry side and slightly two-paced. The bowlers who vary their pace will get wickets. The weather will remain warm and humid and there will be dew on the ground, especially during the second innings, making it difficult for the bowlers to get a good grip.
We are backing the Punjab Kings to win this match. While not in the best of forms, the Punjab Kings have played better cricket compared to CSK in all departments. Also, they have an excellent record against CSK in their recent outings, giving them a psychological edge.
CSK vs PBKS win percentage stands at 57% in favor of PBKS.
