Ajinkya Rahane to score Over 22.5 runs
Ajinkya Rahane has an average of 36 runs per innings this year and has scored at least 23 runs in 3 of his last 5 innings, including 2 half-centuries. We are therefore backing him to play a good knock here.
Highest individual score Under 68.5
Only 1 of the last 7 IPL matches played in Chennai has seen an individual score of more than 68 runs. As it is not the easiest venue to bat on, and the bowlers will get opportunities to pick up wickets, we are unlikely to see a big individual inning.
The Kolkata Knight Riders will look to get back to winning ways as they take on the Chennai Super Kings later this week. The two teams will face off at the Chepauk stadium on Friday.

CSK vs KKR Team Previews
Chennai Super Kings
After winning the opening fixture, the Chennai Super Kings have lost 4 matches on the bounce and find themselves in 9th place on the points table. Their NRR is also among the worst and they will need to score some big wins to improve it.
CSK has a strong batting unit but it has failed to fire on multiple occasions. Barring Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad, none of the batsmen have been able to play consistently. Ravindra is the leading run-scorer for the team with 145 runs, while Gaikwad has scored two half-centuries.
The team will expect better contributions from Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube, both of whom have been unable to convert their starts into match-winning knocks. MS Dhoni has played some good cameos but that hasn’t translated into victories for his team.
The bowlers have fared better in comparison. Noor Ahmad is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 11 wickets, while Khaleel Ahmed is joint second. Matheesha Pathirana and Ravichandran Ashwin have picked up 5 wickets each.
The biggest problem is the lack of power in the lineup and their inability get big scores.
Chennai Super Kings Expected Playing 11
Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), MS Dhoni (WK), Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Chaudhary, Matheesha Pathirana, Khaleel Ahmed
Kolkata Knight Riders
The defending champions haven’t had the best of starts this season and have alternated between a win and a loss in the 5 matches they have played. With 4 points, they are currently placed 5th on the points table.
That said, KKR haven’t played bad cricket but have failed to latch on to key moments. In their latest fixture against LSG, the team seemed to be cruising along, chasing a mammoth target. But a few quick wickets during the middle overs meant that KKR fell short by 4 runs.
Skipper Ajinkya Rahane has led the team from the front and is their leading run-scorer. He, along with Venkatesh Iyer makes up for a solid and dependable middle order. However, the opening pair, which was KKR’s biggest strength last year, has been a bit inconsistent. Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock’s batting has been a hit or a miss.
Similarly, Ramandeep Singh and Andre Russell have also struggled to play the big shots in the death overs. The spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine has picked up only 8 wickets between them, while the seamers have been rather expensive.
Kolkata Knight Riders Expected Playing 11
Quinton de Kock (WK), Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane (C), Venkatesh Iyer, Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Spencer Johnson Varun Chakravarthy
CSK vs KKR Toss Prediction
6 of the last 10 matches played at the Chidambaram Stadium have been won while chasing. In 7 of those games, the team winning the toss opted to field first and we expect that trend to continue.
Pitch Report and Weather Conditions
The pitch at the Chepauk Stadium is balanced, providing equal opportunities to the batsmen and the bowlers. The surface is on the dry side and is also a bit two-paced. The batsmen will have to settle down before they can start playing the big shots. Also, one needs to wait for the loose deliveries.
The seamers will get some movement with the new ball, whole spinners will come into the picture during the latter half. A score of around 180 is a par score. The weather is expected to be warm and humid and there might be some drizzles during the day.
CSK vs KKR: Who Will Win?
Both teams have been below par this season but CSK has been by far the worse performer. KKR has more depth and more power in its lineup. We also think its bowling lineup is capable of keeping the CSK batting lineup under check.
CSK vs KKR win percentage stands at 51% in favor of KKR.
Todays IPL Match Prediction: Kolkata Knight Riders to Win.
