Almost 25 matches into this season, and we are seeing some separation between the teams. The Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions this year but have failed to keep the momentum from last season going. While the team has batted well, they haven’t got the desired results and are in the bottom half of the table.
The Chennai Super Kings have been among the most consistent teams over the past seasons but they too seem to be struggling at the moment. With 4 consecutive losses, CSK is 9th on the points table. While there are plenty of matches yet to be played, they will look to make the most of home conditions.

There are no injuries to report from either squad
The Chepauk stadium has been slightly different from the other venues this year. While the batsmen have dominated the proceedings at other stadiums, the Chepauk stadium does allow the bowlers to have their say. The surface is two-paced and the ball stops a bit when it bounces.
The spinners will get some help as the ball gets older. That said, the batsmen will be able to score runs once they get their eye in. Building up partnerships will be the key.
Quinton de Kock is the best pick here. One can also pick up Devon Conway or MS Dhoni as a second choice.
There are plenty of batsmen to choose from here, especially from KKR. Ajinkya Rahane and Vijay Shankar are in good form, and our top recommendations. Rinku Singh has also played some good cameos. Our other picks include Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
The all-rounders haven’t been able to perform to their full potential. We are picking up Sunil Narine and Ravindra Jadeja to cover the spin attack as well.
Noor Ahmad and Khaleel Ahmed are among the top three wicket-takers and are our primary choices. We are also picking up Pathirana thanks to his wicket-taking abilities.
We are picking up Ajinkya Rahane for this post as he is the most consistent batsman in this match. He has plenty of experience playing in the IPL and being an ex-CSK member, knows the conditions well.
While Sunil Narine is yet to peak in form, he is our choice for vice-captain as he has the ability to contribute with both the bat and the ball.
The MA Chidambaram Stadium is one of the tricky venues when it comes to picking up the right players. We would have loved to pick up more all-rounders but there is so standout performer in this category. We have therefore tried to strike the right balance between batsmen and bowlers.
Ajinkya Rahane has 402 points in the last 5 matches at an average of 80 points per game.
Ajinkya Rahane (184), Rachin Ravindra (145), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (133)
Noor Ahmad (11), Khaleel Ahmed (10), Varun Chakravarthy (6)
Ajinkya Rahane (12), Quinton de Kock (8), MS Dhoni (7)
Rinku Singh (176.78), Sunil Narine (168.75), Ajinkya Rahane (160)
Varun Chakravarthy (6.57), Ravindra Jadeja (8.07), Khaleel Ahmed (8.25)
