This bet will play to England’s batting strengths. They are likely to open with the aggressive Phil Salt and Will Jacks. The opening pair will go full throttle to immediately put the pressure on the West Indies fast bowlers. All four innings so far have had run rates over 6.50.
Statistically, the sixth over of T20 internationals is one of the highest-scoring overs. This will be the final over in which the West Indies can take advantage of powerplay restrictions. They could target this over specifically to make it a profitable one before the spinners take their mark. This would be a decent bet.
This is a crucial match for West Indies to win. They need to win this T20I to stay alive in the series. Contrastingly, England will look to continue their dominance and seal the series by an unassailable lead. The West Indies team will rely on their experienced batters like Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran to deliver the juxtaposition of calmness and explosiveness, while England will bank on Phil Salt and Jos Buttler to continue their good form with the bat.
England have blitzed the West Indies in both of the opening two T20Is by eight and seven wickets respectively. Their record against the West Indies in the last five T20Is has now extended to four wins compared to West Indies’ solitary win in the same time span.
The third T20I of the five-match T20I series between West Indies and England at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium could be a decisive game. You won’t want to miss the live stream on the FanCode app if you’re watching in India.
The openers of Brandon King and Evin Lewis will take charge of England’s threatening new-ball bowlers. King and Lewis are a daunting prospect with a mix of aggression with experience. Wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran adds further firepower to the top-order. This is true of his last seven T20Is with a batting strike rate of almost 160.
Roston Chase and Rovman Powell, the captain, form a solid middle-order. Chase and Powell contrast each other with technically correct strokeplay and pure power. Sherfane Rutherford elongates the powerful batting lineup. Romario Shepherd also offers lower-order boundary-striking, but will largely be used as a frontline seam bowler. The bowling all-rounder has 13 wickets in his last eight T20I matches.
The West Indies' bowling unit appears to be a new-look lineup. Matthew Forde and Terrance Hinds form the inexperienced pace attack. Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hosein form a more experienced left-arm orthodox-spin attack.
Overall, the bowling lineup appears to lack a large amount of variety and could be one of the West Indies’ weaknesses.
England’s top-order batting is arguably their greatest strength on the tour. Phil Salt and Will Jacks are brutal boundary-hitters when opening the batting. Phil Salt hit a century in the first T20I. Captain Jos Buttler also won’t give the West Indian bowlers a chance to breathe.
All three know how to mix power with innovation. Salt and Buttler both have batting strike rates of almost 170 in their last ten and eight matches respectively.
England’s middle-order provides the perfect balance of youth and experience plus powerful batters who can contribute to the wickets column too. Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran are the most experienced of the middle-order and will bear the burden of doing the business in the middle-order.
Jacob Bethell and Dan Mousley are both emerging talents who have shown promise in their young international careers.
In both spin and seam departments, England are blessed with experience and stars on the rise. Jofra Archer will carry the bulk of the fast-bowling load with multiple global T20 tournaments behind him. Jamie Overton and Saqib Mahmood will carry on Archer’s impressive fast-bowling. Mahmood has taken six wickets in the two T20Is.
Adil Rashid will be England’s main spinner. He has 15 T20I wickets in his last ten matches.
England have won both of the T20Is by batting second. The previous four head-to-head clashes have been won by the side batting second too. Bowling first would be advantageous at the Daren Sammy International Cricket Stadium given the day/night conditions.
The pitch's initial freshness and the evening dew under the floodlights may assist swing and seam movement for the fast bowlers. There should be decent pace in the wicket to assist the fast bowlers, while also working in favour of the batters who like to use the pace to send the ball to the boundary. West Indies have failed to defend 158 runs and 182 runs batting first.
The team batting first may need at least 200 runs to be in with a shot of victory.
As per typical tropical conditions, the weather in Gros Islet will be hot and humid. There is a slight chance of showers at 14 percent, but overhead conditions will be partly cloudy.
The stage is set for a captivating encounter as West Indies takes on England at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. England is currently leading the series having won the previous two matches convincingly, with Jos Buttler's 83 off 45 balls guiding them to a comfortable victory in the second T20I.
England have the winning form to complete a series sweep.
