Abu Hider has bowled well this year and is the leading wicket-taker for the team. He was the top bowler for them in 4 out of 10 matches and could repeat that fear here.
Mohammad Naim has scored 333 runs at an average of 33.30. He has scored at least 19 runs in 5 of his last 6 innings, including 3 half-centuries and we are backing him to play well yet again.
The Khulna Tigers will be fighting to stay alive in the competition as they face off against the Rangpur Riders for the second time in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League. The two teams will meet on Thursday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
The two teams have faced each other 10 times so far. The Rangpur Riders have won 7 games while Khulna has won thrice.

The Rangpur Riders enjoyed a brilliant start to their campaign, winning the first eight games on the trot. However, their form has seen a dip in the last week and they are coming into this contest on the back of three consecutive losses. That said, the Riders are still at the top of the table, enjoying the best NRR among all teams and a win here will take them to the next stage.
The bowlers have played a big role in the Riders’ success thus far. Akif Javed is the team’s leading wicket-taker with 18 wickets and has received good support from Nahid Rana and Mohammad Saifuddin in the pace department.
Khushdil Shah is the Riders’ most successful spinner with 17 wickets and has the support of Mahedi Hasan and Iftikhar Ahmed. Khushdil has also batted well and has scored 298 runs at a strike rate of over 175. However, he missed the previous match due to an injury, and updates regarding his availability are awaited.
The team’s opening pair is made up of Soumya Sarkar and Steven Taylor. However, none of them have been able to make a meaningful contribution. The middle-order batsmen like Iftikhar Ahmed, Saif Hassan, and Nurul Hasan have done the bulk of scoring and the team will once again bank on them.
With 4 wins in 10 games, the Khulna Tigers are currently placed 5th on the points table. If they lose this match, their hopes of making it to the playoffs will be extinguished.
Mohammad Naim is the most consistent batsman for the Tigers this year. He has scored 3 half-centuries this season and is the top run-getter for them. He will open the batting here with Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
The middle order has some solid performers as well, including Afif Hossain, William Bosisto, and Mahidul Islam Ankon. Overall, the batting has been a positive for the Khulna Tigers and they will continue to build up on that. The bowling however has been a weak link for the team.
Barring Abu Hider, who has picked up 17 wickets so far, none of the bowlers have been consistent. The other two seamers, Hasan Mahmud and Salman Irshad have been quite expensive. Similarly, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nasum Ahmed have been unable to control the scoring rate during the middle overs.
The Khulna Tigers need to improve their bowling if they want to win.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
While the pitch at Dhaka is traditionally good to bat on, the surface seems to have slowed down a bit over the last few matches. The ball stops a bit when it pitches and the batsmen will have to work on their timing. The slower bowlers will get plenty of help if they pitch the ball in the right areas. Anything over 180 will be tricky to chase.
The weather will be warm and humid with temperatures of around 26 degrees.
While the Rangpur Riders haven’t been in the best of forms recently, we feel they are the stronger team in this contest. They have one of the best bowling attacks in the league and that will give them an advantage.
Bet on the Rangpur Riders to win.
