Rajshahi may grab a victory in this game because of their clever batting. They are likely to hit more boundary fours in going on to win the match. The previous boundary four count comparing Rajshahi to Sylhet was ten to six.
This is potentially a high risk bet because of the odds given, but it would not be beyond the imagination for neither to team to have a batter score a half-century. In their previous head-to-head, both teams batting innings were made up of contributions in the 30s and 40s to make up their totals. The highest individual score was 41 runs from Ryan Burl.
The team from Rajshahi sit higher on the table than their opponents for good reason. The Strikers’ season has been a struggle with only a handful of wins. The Sylhet team failed to make the play-offs in 2024. Their 2025 season looks to be diving in the same direction. The 2025 debutants from Rajshahi have endured mixed results, but are still in contention for the play-offs.
This was the first season where the two teams played each other. They have only clashed once this year, with victory going the way of Durbar Rajshahi by 65 runs. Rajshahi have the added advantage of more wins than the Strikers.
Durbar Rajshahi and Sylhet Strikers will meet for a second time this BPL on Monday, 27 January 2025 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. In India, the BPL is being shown on the live-streaming of the FanCode app.
Explosive opener Mohammad Haris will look to provide fiery starts alongside experienced all-rounder Sabbir Hossain. Young Pakistani Batter Haris has almost 2500 T20 runs. The all-rounder hit 39 runs against Rangpur in Chattogram. Anamul Haque brings consistency and stability to the top order.
The right-hander hit a century against Khulna in Chattogram. Zimbabwean all-rounder Ryan Burl adds a blend of power-hitting and leg-spin to the mix.
In the middle order, Yasir Ali and young talent Akbar Ali are pivotal for anchoring the innings and finishing strong. Yasir Ali has almost 1500 runs in his BPL career. Promising all-rounder SM Meherob offers energy and depth with ball and bat.
Seasoned spinner Sunzamul Islam will lead the spin attack.
The pace department is spearheaded by skipper Taskin Ahmed. He will use the new ball to full effect in the powerplay. He took an incredible seven for 19 earlier this season. The captain is supported by veteran seamer Shafiul Islam and the fast-bowling talent of Mohor Sheikh.
Experienced fast bowler Islam has best bowling figures of five for 26 in the BPL.
At the top of the order is Scotland’s George Munsey with explosive power in T20 cricket. The left-hander took the Khulna bowlers on with no fear when he scored 58 runs off 32 balls. He is complemented by the dependable Rony Talukdar. The local talent will also take on wicketkeeping duties.
Zakir Hasan and Kadeem Alleyne strengthen the middle order with clever batting. Hasan played a smart innings with 44 runs against Khulna Tigers. The young West Indian has more than 180 T20 runs in a short career so far. Jaker Ali and captain Ariful Haque add further firepower and experience.
They will be crucial for guiding the team in crunch moments, particularly after the powerplay and before the death overs. Ali has more than 700 BPL runs. Afghanistan’s Samiullah Shinwari offers a steady hand in the lower middle order and valuable spin bowling.
In the bowling department, Nihaduzzaman’s spin pairs well with the pace trio of Sumon Khan, Ruyel Miah and England’s Reece Topley. The spinner picked up two wickets against the Tigers. Sumon Khan took seven wickets in six games of Bangladesh’s National T20 Cricket League.
Topley’s height and accuracy offers him a point of difference compared to other bowlers. Especially in the death overs, the English bowler will be difficult to get away for runs. He has five four-wicket hauls in T20s.
Durbar Rajshahi chose to bat first in the last match against the Sylhet Strikers. That choice at the toss proved fruitful with a victory. Both captains may use that knowledge together with a conditions-based assessment to choose to bat first.
Under the floodlights, the Mirpur pitch can be challenging for batters with the ball swinging while it is still new. The venue has been used for a number of games throughout this BPL, meaning it could be on the slower side. Batters will need to be watchful with their shots.
The spinners could be effective, but more so because of the dew factor and the ball skidding on rather than turning square. Durbar Rajshahi successfully defended 184 for seven in 20 overs versus Sylhet Strikers in Chattogram.
Temperatures will be slightly cooler at night after a hot and sunny day. There will also be a slight bit of humidity. There is no rain expected for Monday night.
Durbar Rajshahi has had more success in the BPL than the Sylhet Sixers. In terms of consistency, the Sylhet Sixers have struggled with the bat massively. We think it is going to be a big task for the Sylhet Sixers to get the better of Durbar Rajshahi. '
Bet on Durbar Rajshahi to win.
