Only one of the previous three matches at Hobart have seen more than 329.5 runs scored. In general, Finals end up seeing a bit more caution from both teams and so we are very comfortable going under.
We love this betting market. Just one duck in the entire match will end up giving you a 33% return.
Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder will fight it out for the BBL 14 title at the Bellerive Oval. The venue is a huge advantage for the Hobart Hurricanes in our opinion who are unbeaten at home this season. The odds are stacked against Sydney Thunder but they have outperformed expectations in the playoffs so far. Can they pull off an upset win or will the Hobart Hurricanes be crowned BBL Champions?
The two teams have played against each other 21 times. Out of those, the Hobart Hurricanes have won 13 matches while Sydney Thunder has won eight. The previous five matches between these two have seen four wins for the Hobart Hurricanes.
This match can be watched live on the Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
The Hobart Hurricanes have a very strong batting lineup and that is going to be their biggest strength going into the Final. A large part of their success has been the form of Mitch Owen at the top of the order. Not only is he the highest scorer for the Hurricanes with 344 runs but he has also hit the most sixes (25), the most fours (29), and has the best strike rate (191.11).
Needless to say, Mitch Owen is going to be the most important player for the Hobart Hurricanes.
There is a lot of batting depth to follow with players like Matthew Wade, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Tim David, and Nikhil Chaudhary. The middle order has performed well for the previous two matches and that is another comforting thing for the Hurricanes.
In terms of being able to recover from early wickets, the Hurricanes have a lot more depth than Sydney Thunder.
The bowling attack for Hobart Hurricanes was electric against the Sydney Sixers in the previous match. Raw pace from Riley Meredith and fantastic backup from Cameron Gannon essentially ended the contest in the powerplay itself.
The Bellerive Oval offers some help to the fast bowlers and being able to take advantage of that is going to be what the Hurricanes will be after. Peter Hatzglou, Nathan Ellis, and Chris Jordan are world-class bowlers that give the Hobart Hurricanes plenty of depth in the bowling department as well.
Sydney Thunder has won its previous three matches, often against the odds, and has now booked itself a place in the Finals. Having David Warner as the captain definitely helps because of enormous experience in such situations.
Here is the thing about the Sydney Thunder team. Their batting is not great and a bit too dependent on David Warner but players like Jason Sangha, Sam Billings, and Matthew Gilkes all have the capability to make match-winning contributions.
In fact, for the sake of the batting run rate, it may not be a bad thing if David Warner does not make a massive score. Thunder is outgunned in terms of power and depth but as it has shown in the previous week, it has the ability to outperform expectations.
Wes Agar and Nathan McAndrew have led the bowling lineup for Sydney Thunder admirably. They are backed up well with the likes of Chris Green, Tanveer Sangha, and Tom Andrews. Warner loves to use the spinners aggressively and will go for wickets with them again. If the spinners are able to chip away at the strong Hurricanes batting, we may have a close contest.
We think the team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. Getting runs on the board is a big advantage and we think you should take that in consideration while placing your bets.
No venue in BBL14 has been as good for batting as the Bellerive Oval. The ball comes on to the bat very well and is always going to help the batters play their shots. The bounce and carry can give the fast bowlers something to work with but the short boundaries always keep the batting side in play.
A score of around 165-170 should be seen as par.
The Hobart Hurricanes have all the advantages in their favor. They have a stronger batting lineup, are playing at home, and also have a bowling unit that is firing on all cylinders. It will take a very bad day for the Hurricanes or something truly exceptional from Thunder to be able to stop them from lifting the title.
Bet on the Hobart Hurricanes to win.
