Betting Tips

First ball of the match to be a dot ball

1.17

The West Indies faced five dot balls in the opening over of their previous Test. Bangladesh also faced five dot balls in their first over of their previous match, including a wicket ball. This is a highly likely outcome.

Dafabet review India

Total runs for the first over of West Indies first innings - Under 2.5

1.69

The West Indian openers only managed one run against Kagiso Rabada in their opening over against South Africa in their previous Test. They may take the similarly cautious approach in this Test.

Neither team has a particularly great Test record to boast of in recent games. Both teams played South Africa in their previous games. Both teams suffered a Test series loss to the South Africans, but by differing margins. The West Indies managed a draw to lose one-nil in their two-match Test series and Bangladesh were whitewashed two-nil in their two-match Test series.

The two teams haven’t met in a Test match in a while, having last met in 2022 only. The record of the last five Tests is well in favour of the West Indies though. They have won four of the last five Tests, including two back-to-back two-nil Test series wins against Bangladesh. Bangladesh have won once in the last five Tests against them.

WI vs BAN Team Previews

West Indies

After consecutive Test series losses, the West Indians will want to give their home fans something to cheer about. They are starting to build a consistent Test squad.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite's leadership and steadfast batting style will be crucial. The top-order batting will be supported by emerging talents like Mikyle Louis and Keacy Carty. Alick Athanaze brings excitement to the middle-order. Athanaze hit 92 runs against South Africa in the opening Test against them. He is gradually gaining international experience. Joshua Da Silva will be key behind the stumps.

The team's bowling attack boasts impressive pace and spin options. Alzarri Joseph and Kemar Roach are a formidable and experienced fast-bowling duo. Jayden Seales adds to the fast-bowling stocks. He took a second-innings six-wicket haul to complement a first-innings three-wicket haul in his previous Test.

Jomel Warrican’s left-arm orthodox spin will be a useful threat to have up the sleeve on days three, four and five. Warrican took four wickets against the Proteas in the first Test.

Bangladesh

The last time Bangladesh won a Test match was August. A win away from home in the Caribbean would do them a world of good for their confidence in the five-day format.

Najmul Hossain Shanto is being exposed to leadership at international level across all formats. The batting lineup boasts talented openers in Shadman Islam and Mahmudul Hasan Joy. Mominul Haque's experience and solid technique will bolster the middle-order, alongside dynamic batter Litton Das.

Haque was the only Bangladeshi batter of significance in the second Test against the Proteas with 82 runs.

The team's bowling department presents varied options. Taijul Islam's left-arm spin and Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s right-arm off-spin will aim to exploit spin-friendly conditions. Islam managed a five-wicket haul in the South African first innings of the second Test after a long, hard toil.

He backed up his eight wickets in the first Test. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also contributed with an innings of 97 runs in the opening Test of that series. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam spearhead the new-ball pace attack. Hasan Mahmud adds depth to the fast-bowling arsenal as the first change option.

WI vs BAN Toss Prediction

In both Tests of the West Indies vs South Africa series, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. This first Test may be no different. Both teams may prefer the option of building scoreboard pressure with the bat first up.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, generally starts flat and batter friendly on the first couple of days of a Test match. This should be music to the ears of the captain winning the toss and electing to bat. As the game moves along, it typically offers increasing assistance to spinners.

Some turn may become evident by the third day. Fast bowlers can exploit some pace and bounce with the new ball. By the time we hit the last few days of the Test match, there may be some variable bounce in the wicket.

This could be challenging for the side batting last in the match. The previous Test in the West Indies was low scoring. In the first innings, South Africa only managed 160 all out before the West Indies replied with 144 all out.

The rain may play a small part in the Test match at some stage, but hopefully the rain breaks will only be short and sharp. Days two to five may be the most affected by rain. There is a 24 percent, 34 percent, 23 percent and 34 percent chance of rain on those days respectively.

Day one only has a ten percent chance of rain. Temperatures will be warm and humid across the five days.

WI vs BAN Betting Tips

Neither team is in particularly great Test match form with four losses each across their last five Tests. However, it may be the West Indies who feel most comfortable. They will be playing in home conditions with a fast-bowling attack that is used to dominating the wickets column in the scorebook. They will test a Bangladesh batting lineup that will be more accustomed to spinning conditions.

Bet on West Indies to win.
