The Brave’s opening pair hasn’t been consistent this year. The openers have been unable to put up a partnership of more than 17 runs in any of the 3 games and are unlikely to do so in this match as well.
The Ajman Bolts are searching for their first win of the season as they take on the Chennai Brave in match number 17 of the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League. The two teams will clash on Monday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
This is the first time that both teams will face each other in the league.
This match will be live-streamed on the FanCode App.
Just like the Ajman Bolts, the Chennai Braves too are yet to win a match this season. Rassie van der Dussen and Josh Brown were yet again unable to give the team a good start on Sunday.
This has been a persistent problem for the team and they will need to work on that ASAP. The middle order has performed relatively better. Dan Lawrence scored a half-century in the last match, albeit for a losing cause.
There are a few other big hitters in the middle order as well, including Chris Lynn, Thisara Perera, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. The bowling has been equally disappointing. Nuwan Thushara and Sabir Ali, who are the team’s premier fast bowlers, have picked up just 2 wickets each.
Oshane Thomas, who was playing his first match of the season on Sunday, was quite expensive as well.
This is the debut season for the Ajman Bolts but they haven’t had the start they would have hoped for. With 3 losses in as many matches, they are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. With the tournament nearing the halfway mark, time is running out for the Bolts if they want to qualify for the playoffs.
The batting unit has proved to be one of Ajman’s biggest weaknesses so far. Despite having some talented batsmen, the team has struggled to put up match-winning scores. Alex Hales and Chandrapaul Hemraj have struggled to get going at the top of the order and that has put pressure on the middle order.
Mohammad Nabi and Shehan Jayasuriya have gotten a couple of good starts but have yet to convert them. Ravi Bopara and James Neesham have plenty of experience playing in T20 leagues around the world but they too are yet to make a mark.
The bowlers have performed slightly better but there is plenty of work needed here as well. Neesham and Jason Behrendorff have picked up 6 wickets between them. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who is the specialist spinner, has 2 wickets against his name.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium is balanced and we have seen quite a few close contests in recent games. While the pitch is dry, there are plenty of rough patches created by the player’s footmarks and the ball moves around quite a bit when it hits those areas.
That said, it is still a good batting track as the ball comes onto the bat thanks to the good bounce. A score of around 100 is a par score.
The weather is likely to be clear with temperatures of around 27 degrees.
Both teams will be desperate for a win and there is no clear favorite to win. While we are expecting a close contest, we feel that the Chennai Brave Jaguars have a slight edge thanks to a stronger batting unit.
Bet on Chennai Brave Jaguars to win.
